Tea Party stiffs waitstaff, told never to return to Neptune Diner
NY GOP strategist gives his take on Tea Party 'screaming match' in Oneonta
http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2011/03/ny_gop_strategist_gives_his_ta.html

Will you ever be allowed back in the Neptune Diner in Oneonta?

I’ve been to the Neptune Diner several times. During the Paladino effort, we would stop there intentionally because of the fine quality of the food. I would be upset if they would not let me back in. But it wasn’t me that was thrown out. It was the Tea Party, because they stiffed the waiters.

Seriously?

Yes, they stiffed the waiters. They left a less-than-10 percent tip and the manager went over and said, ‘We would appreciate it if you don’t come back.’ I saw the waitresses. They were visibly upset, because they had been working like crazy, and the Tea Party folks stiffed them.

..."For every 50 to 100 Tea Party folks who are there for Constitutional principles, one is there simply because we elected a black President. There are wonderful, incredible people in the movement. But when we were at a Tea Party event in Broome County, a leader of that local Tea Party got close in the bar and, to me, quietly made a threat to the President.

Read the whole thing. It was entertaining but not long enough to settle with some popcorn.

Bwahh ha ha ha ha!!!!

principles, one is there simply because we elected a black President."
I would put that figure of "one" considerably higher.

9. Very interesting
Do Tea Party people blame you for Paladino’s loss?

This was my 73rd campaign. In previous elections around the world, I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, stabbed, you name it — but this was the worst of all. We had solid control of the campaign up until the primary. ...As soon as our candidate was under the bright lights of a statewide candidacy, the chocolate started melting. There was a lot of blame to go around and I have my share.

11. I love this line
"One man’s fiscally responsible is another man’s cheap."

I also like this point "if you don’t support the conservative policies of a Democratic governor, you have no credibility to criticize the liberal things he does" I would take it further than that ... if you don't support them, you are a hypocrite. Liberals are better at this. We are better at supporting the rare liberal policies of Republicans because we are less likely to be lock-step party line stooges and, while we are also sometimes hypocrites, our hypocrisy is much more likely to be rooted in bitterness and anger about laws we disagree with rather than blind loyalty and knee-jerk reactions.

13. Having been a server and a bartender
for 18 years, I have sympathy for them, but they should have put gratuity on the bills for a large party like this. There is nothing worse than being slammed with a huge party and doing your best to make sure everyone has drinks, gets their food prepared correctly and promptly, giving the best service you can (for your $2.50 per hour) and then having the party leave and stiff you.

There is a reason that some restaurants have a policy of adding 15%-18% for parties of six or more - and this is a perfect example of why they do it.

14. Cheap bastards to be sure. But why is no one calling out the restaurant owner as well for
relying on unpredictable customers to make up for in tips what he isn't paying his employees in wages?

Cheap bastards are not a republican exclusive.
This is not meant as a slam, this is only a request to PAY ATTENTION when the bill shows up.
