Thousands of NJ police, firefighters rally at State House; Christie calls them greedy
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 08:18 AM by ElsewheresDaughter
NJ owes the fire fighters pension 45.6 Billion ...that's 45 BILLION ....which Whitman raided..ahem borrowed .....in 1997 and never repaid a penny and now fatman wants the rest of our money and has the gall to call us "greedy" as he kicks us in the face! I’m getting pretty sick and tired of hearing these governors blame all states budget problems on public workers!

Governor Christie called New Jersey police and firefighters greedy and said their mass protest in Trenton on Thursday would play “absolutely zero” role in the ongoing debate over public worker benefits.

The governor, speaking during a news conference inside the State House as thousands of unionized police and firefighters rallied outside, said the unions are refusing to compromise on contracts that pay expensive benefits taxpayers can no longer afford.

2. THERE'S an idea!
They steal working peoples' pensions, they lose their own.

I wonder if Whitman collects a state pension. If so, it should be stopped and an effort made to recover anything that was paid to her.

8. Better yet - political appointees.
In NJ. My brother was one. Working as a prosecutor for 5 years granted him a $50,000 a year pension.

He died hours before his 5 years was up, but the system is still in place.

3. Translated: New Jersey has stolen the salaries of public employees.
When the State "borrows" funds from their pensions of public employees and doesn't return it, it's taking the deferred salaries due those employees. Sort of like legalized embezzlement if the funds aren't returned. Chris Christie calls those public employees "greedy" who demand their money.

7. Good, let Christie bury himself along with Daniels and Walker, et. al.
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 08:38 AM by snappyturtle
The people are waking up to the damage the state governments have perpetrated. I would assume that the state portion of benefits is part of the compensation packages of the police and firefighters. Wish Christie would speak plainly and say, "Death to the middle class" rather than demonizing these workers for THAT is the real message.

edit:typo
