WI governor bans reading silently, newspapers, chairs, flags.... crockpots, etc..
"Populist" Wisconsin governor Scott Walker continues to restrict the freedom of Wisconsinites to seek redress of grievances in their state capitol.

The Senate gallery rules, established by the body for the 2011-12 legislative session, include:
— Visitors must be seated and quiet at all times, with no leaning over the balcony or putting anything (such as signs) over the balcony.
— No signs or public displays, reading of books or newspapers, tobacco products, or food and beverages.
— Cell phones and pagers must be turned off, no photography (video or still) or sound recordings allowed.
— No backpacks or large bags.

In the Assembly Gallery, in accordance with Assembly Rule 26, the following is not allowed:
— Eating, drinking, smoking, talking, use of mobile phones, laptop computers, video cameras, still cameras, newspapers, bags, briefcases, signs, posters, placards, or hats.
— There will be no leaning over railings or sitting in the aisles.
— Any outbursts, such as clapping, cheering, jeering or stomping.

Security screeners won't allow the following items into the Capitol:
— Animals (except service animals), balloons, coolers, crockpots and other cooking appliances, easels, extension cords, large bags, boxes, or storage containers for food or other items.
— Massage chairs/beds, mattresses, sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, musical instruments, noisemakers (air horns, buckets, drumsticks, trash can lids, vuvuzelas), portable PA systems, signs or flags on sticks.
— Tables, chairs, furniture, tape (masking, painter's, duct, transparent, etc.)
— Other items that may be considered "inconsistent" with trying to get the building emptied at closing, or whose use could be a threat to public health or safety.

Got that? You can't talk, you can't read to yourself, and you can't bring anything with you.

2. Next strange question...
Why, exactly, would someone want to bring a CROCKPOT into the state capitol? It's not like you're going to cook up a pot of chili or something while you're listening to the Lege blather.

It's also not like someone's going to bring one in so they can pour boiling oil on the Republican side of the House because a crockpot can't get oil that hot.

9. Well, they've certainly brought crackpots into the State Capitol. They're found in their
seats on the GOP side of the chamber.

6. "A threat to public health or safety"
Look out! He's got a balloon!

The only proper and meet response to this nonsense is uproarious laughter. I notice he also wants to ban "flags on sticks." Why does Gov. Scott hate America and the Flag? Anyone?

8. They really have some loopholes in those restrictions.
Still bring in food, reading material, electronic devices, etc. Just not suppose to take them into the gallery or use them there.

How are they going to prevent people from bringing in tape and other items that are small enough to put in coat pockets? Unless, they contain metal how are they suppose to know they bring it in?

10. Gosh, Scott Walker, you really ARE as stupid as Palin
I don't think I really realized that before. You know, your half-term "governorship" isn't going to go any better than hers did.
