OFFICIAL GENERAL STRIKE SUPPORT THREAD
If Wisconsin passes their bill tonight banning collective bargaining for state workers and you support a general nationwide strike, check in here.

Send a message to your President, who recalled DNC support to Wisconsin workers. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x600018)

Send a message to Governor Walker that THIS WILL NOT STAND!

Send a message to the GOP that they've awakened the American People and that WE WILL BE HEARD!

6. This is a coordinated attack on democracy
They hollowed out the economy, now they're trying to hollow out our system of government. Once you push people to the wall and it comes down to defending home and family, don't expect Americans to get down on their knees and take it. A general strike is exactly what we need to do.

7. I believe general strikes are against federal law
If I'm not mistaken, the Taft-Hartley Act outlawed general strikes.

That sounds like a good reason to go for it.

13. I agree 100%
Putting a stop to the Koch Brothers is as much in order as declaring independence from King George.

Suppression of the many for the benefit of the few.

12. History states otherwise. Your point is unbackable and flat wrong.
It is how we got our civil/worker's rights. And it is how we will keep them.

17. If all cops, firefighters, & teacher strike
and are willing to do so until it is changed back it should work

Those are 3 professions that are hard to replace quickly

19. This is fantasy.
It might be more effective to promote a consumer strike; not just in Wisconsin, but across the country. We might be able to get a million people to go for a day without buying anything.
