This is not an original thought but the next time you hear a tea bagger, republican or other conservative going on about the "Founding Fathers" as if they would be on there side if they were alive today, ask them "Who were the conservatives of 1776?"
At that time they were called "Tories" or, worse, "Loyalists" and they supported the king and the status quo and, especially in the patriotic south, fought in large numbers against the revolutionaries who wanted to form a new country with a new kind of government.
As many as a third of the people living in here at that time could be described as Loyalists and a good percent of them were the merchants, bankers and landlords to whom the average people were indebted and who profited off the taxes they did not necessarily pay to the crown.

but unfortunately, teabaggers are hostile and highly resistant to anything that counters their worldview. Factual, provable? Means not a thing to the 'baggers.

It was thanks to our previous generations who fought like hell to be unionized in order to have the humane working conditions that most jobs have today. It's thanks to them that you have livable working conditions and ways to force bosses to maintain those. It was thanks to the unions that you have the vacation time you do, the benefits (yo, teabaggers, you can kiss goodbye having ANY work-provided health insurance if the Rethugs win), your children aren't forced to work, and so much more. I'm sure there are a few rich teabaggers and a few who own businesses who won't have to worry about the Rethugs successfully breaking the unions.

Idiots don't get it: once the unions lose power the rest of you are fucked.
