Let's cut through the BS about NPR.
The federal subsidy is corporate welfare.

Let Exxon-Mobil or their other corporate sponsors pick up the slack. They like jazz and Car Talk too.

Do you think NPR is socialist just because the 'pugs say it is?

2. Can't have commercial sponsors because they ultimately will control the content of the shows.

3. I think there are two demographics of NPR listener-members: 73 year old widows and
54 year old underemployed consultants. Neither of them can afford to support NPR as we know it on their own. By default, Exxon-Mobil Corp. determines the content and whether PBS/NPR lives or dies.

I think Exxon-Mobil, and other huge multinationals, are closing down most of its US operations, and will simply cash cow the US market from now on. They don't want to spend any money here that would get a 5 times greater return in Asia.

America has been pillaged, now the carcass is being stripped. Just like Russia after the collapse of the USSR. Simple as that.

4. I listen to NPR at lunch and on the way home.
The Story and All Things Considered are always worth a listen. I feel like they don't try to slant stories. And they present really cool stories that you otherwise would never hear in main stream media. I hope we don't lose it. I will be terribly sad.
By the way, I'm 31 years old.
