This country is infested with truly heartless evil motherfuckers
I have ancestors who were in Japanese-American internment camps, some of whom served this country loyally in WWII, and as someone with this background, I think I'm perfectly justified in saying: FUCK YOU TEABAG ASSHOLES on Facebook, Yahoo, etc. who say Japan deserved this for Pearl Harbor, something that happened 70 years ago. We nuked 2 of their cities and 100000+ of their citizens, is that not enough to satisfy your bloodlust for anyone not white Christian and American? Same goes to the selfish self-entitled crybabies who complain that they didn't give anything to us when 9/11 and Katrina happened. THEY DID!!! You assholes imprisoned my relatives because of their race and now you want to do the same if not worse to Muslims. And you have the GALL to call yourselves Christians. If you really think Jesus would own guns and steal from the poor to give to the rich and attend your KKK...I mean Tea Party rallies, you will be in for a rude fucking awakening come Judgment Day. Tell you what, if your trailer parks get decimated by a tornado, I'm going to point and laugh and say that's what you get for being the great great great grandson of a slaveowner or for having the same political views as Timothy McVeigh. I'm serious, all racists like these guys deserve to experience the same suffering and persecution they inflict on others, a hundredfold.

3. Infested is a great word
They really are like an infestation in our country. They are becoming much more exposed lately and SURPRISE! None of them really seems to be focusing on jobs. Where are all the answers that the teabaggers were supposed to have to fix our country? How are we going to get out of debt by making abortion illegal? And don't even get me started on union busting. It's all so transparent now and SO ugly.

They made allot of hateful noise, and voted for exactly what they claimed they were against; corruption in government. And now once again, the democrats have to figure out a way to get us out of this huge pile of crap that they have gotten us into.

131. Sorry that this is true - but I could not agree more.
I'm with that NPR guy who was videotaped without his knowledge by that little ACORN-killing weasel. Everything he said was true. To read their comments about karma being a bitch and "if you want to feel better about the Japanese tsunami, google the Pearl Harbor death toll." "If you want to feel better"???????????????? What kind of sick sadistic fucks are these people? Their stupid insistence on some egotistical imperialist myth about "American exceptionalism" - they're making us exceptional, alright, in our stupidity and hatred.

14. people are cruel, and stupid, and mean
I think what drives a lot of this is fear.

And the silly idea that if we can find some way of distancing ourselves from suffering, we will be safe.

And coming up with ludicrous, twisted reasons to explain why terrifying, unpredictable, unfair things happen to others.

Watching and knowing what is happening to the people in Japan is agonizing.

I'm sorry.
There is no excuse for this.

driving a beer truck, or similar occupation, that just loves what Squat Walker and his allies are doing. He doesn't know it, but he's going to be let go when sales drop. Not much consolation for most of us, but some of these assholes will get what they deserve.
I have a little influence on who get hired where I work. I'll be doing what I can to check out prospects, and give a thumbs down to any right-wing types. Our HR people doing the interviews can't ask some questions, but I can. I know a lot of people in my town, and I can always find out what kind of guy we're looking at.

110. I'm sad the hate speech has become such a brazen money making venture
when it used to be restricted to a crazed fringe element ranting with a tiny audience. Regret my Democratic legislators going along with loosening the equal time broadcasting rules to let the most hateful voices dominate our public airwaves.

Dangerous privatization and "self regulation." Letting "the wisdom of the private sector" conglomerate our mass media and control the airwaves, a.k.a. flood them with propaganda against good government, get the people to direct their anger at each other and demand more tax cuts for the top one percent.

And really disgusted that Rush would be carried on the Armed Forces Network.

And embarrassed for our country that Fox Anti-Democratic News is shown around the world.

with these asshats. :puke: I am starting to think it is high time we look at splitting the US in two -- one country for those of us who want to work towards a better future that is inclusive, safe, energy independent, etc. and another that is happy to wallow in their bigotry, religious insanity, and nostalgia for a country that never truly existed except in their minds and on "Leave it to Beaver".

Seriously, at what point does the latter group become an actual danger to our country? I think we are just about there.

47. Thanks for this. Had the pleasure of meeting Fred Korematsu a number of years ago.
Put together a 1996 dedication in Michigan recalling Justice Frank Murphy's dissent in Korematsu v. US. Flew him and his wife in from California and we had dinner with them the night before the dedication; wonderful people. He actually met his wife in Detroit right after the war; she was a nurse. They were thrilled to be back in Michigan and were going to use the opportunity afterwards to travel the state (which they did).

Anyway, I will never forget the passion with which he spoke at the dedication about what had been done to Japanese-Americans. He still wept more than 50 years later. You might enjoy this: http://www.michbar.org/programs/milestone/milestones_MurphysDissent.cfm

Thanks for your post. Sorry about the pain you are experiencing; Fred Korematsu would no doubt share it, were he still alive today. As it is, all decent people of every heritage are outraged by the teabagger comments.

This was without mentioning some other heartless evil motherfuckers - the sociopathic wealthy that run this country, have seen their incomes shoot to stratospheric heights while our wages haven't risen since 1979, pillage every worker right unions gave us, quash all of the progress FDR and others brought forth, institute an economic system that has seen poverty and homelessness become widespread and return us to a cheapskate billionaire-driven Gilded Age where no one but the top 10% benefit from the massive largesse.

And the ruinous wealthy are not going to stop until they see every last damned one of us FAIL, fight amongst each other for scraps and accept whatever lousy jobs they choose to give the lucky ones.

The problem with the wannabe-sociopaths is that they won't listen to reason or argument. Or even think about listening to reason or argument.

The ethical appeal is the only way to convince them. Allow your strength of character to convert them.

First of all I agree totally with your post. This country has become very sick and the voices for decency are being drown out.

Have you seen the documentary film "Cats of Mirikitani?" If not, please please watch it. It is the amazing story of a man, an artist who was sent to an internment camp during WWII. He was working on the streets of New York on 9/11, and a most bittersweet and loving story emerges. There is no mistake the cost of the internment, the bombings and racism he experienced in his life.
Netflix has it.

Not to mention that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were attacks on civilians....and the devastation probably the worst, most long-lasting and horrific that the world has ever seen from anything but a natural disaster.

It would seem that a parallel sub-species of the human race has evolved, and they are lacking all those things that actually define "humanity". The two species resemble each other very closely on the surface, but the internal "wiring" is very different. The subspecies truly has INFESTED this planet. Like termites infesting a beautiful house, they will destroy it from the bottom up, from the inside out. By the time the problem has been properly diagnosed, it may be way too late to save anything or anybody.

80. I agree.
I teach middle school. We are currently reading "Farewell to Manzanar."

I cannot believe how many of my students, halfway through the book and after I have corrected them repeatedly, still think Manzanar is in Japan, and that it was Japan putting the Japanese in camps, and Japan dropping atomic bombs.

I've showed them Manzanar, and other camps, on a map. I've corrected them numerous times. It doesn't sink in that it is their own country, that they have been conditioned to support unconditionally, that rounded up people and put them in camps, and that was the first to drop an atomic weapon on an enemy.

I've had to spend so much time on these corrections that I'm waiting for parents to contact the office about the "jap loving anti-american teacher" teaching their children.

I teach in a rural area.

84. Souless and Hartless SOB's
Thugs (Used to call Republiancunts rethugs, but now just thugs) and their corporate masters have no souls, let alone any heart for people, period. It's no wonder to me that the whore supreme court gave citizenship to corporations since they are souless and heartless bastards as well. I say Impeach and replace all the thugs on the supreme court with me or anyone who has a heart and a soul. Replacing them I say. I may not have a degree in law but I could and would be a great supreme court judge as I am for anyone who doesn't make a million or more in income with special jurisprudence to those earning 50,000 or less a year. And a very special deference to the disabled regardless of income.

I have been disabled for over 6 months now and financially ruined because the federal government (OPM to be exact) from which I was employed have dragged their feet on approving my disability retirement benefits for over 6 months now and still I wait. I've called repeatedly, no response, I've written letters and emials, no replys and I've requested help from my Senator and they have not received a reply either for over a month now. WTF, am I to do? I've done just about everything I can think of to get my application moved along, yet I still wait, day after day and am in danger of repossession on my truck, no money for food (I no longer am eligible for food stamps as I told the state department of social services that I am suppose to receive SSDI benefits starting in February BUT I have to wait an additional month before I actually receive my benefit check. I am scheduled to receive my first benefit check by this months end...unless of course the federal government isn't shut down by the thugs or pass legislation stopping all payment benefits to those of us are in desperate situations now.

I am relying on the local food bank for a month's worth of staples that don't last a month and have been getting some food assistance from my local friends.

I've relied on my own (as a teacher) for my entire life and have nothing to show for the 40 years total of working and I have no savings because the salary, like everyone else in the private sector have seen my salary flat or declining over the past 40 years. Can anyone say...tricky Dick and saint Reagan? Thanks a lot you soulless and heartless bastard thugs. Bush the smarter was useless and his retarded monkey son was a disgrace to the the office of president (not to mention the human race).

What do we have now? I feel we have another corporate president who, like a good salesman sold the American People on a worthless series of promises that he knew he wouldn't ever be able to keep - just like just about every president has done during my adult life time, except President Clinton. Now he may not have taken all the right steps (NAFTA for example) as president but he did accomplish work for the people. I had the best 8 years financially, ever, under President Clinton's Administration (VOTED FOR HIM TWICE AND WOULD HAPPILY DO IT AGAIN).

I voted for his wife the First Lady in the primaries and was totally BUMMED OUT when Obama won the nomination. Yes, I still voted for President Obama, but as junior Bush the dumber once said, "...fool me once, and don't get fooled again..." or something like that and that is how I view the present federal administration - except for Secretory of State Clinton. I just wonder how things would have been under another Clinton Presidency.

Enough said for now.

85. So True
This country attracts sharks like moths to a light bulb. The "freedom" they worship is the freedom to screw over anyone they can for the gain of power and money. And they continue to do so as they work to shape the political system to insure they can expect the government to be too weak to counter them. It's all about accumulation of power and wealth in the good ol' USA. Honor, fairness, compassion are for wimps. Sad, but true.

88. Oh. My. God. They're saying this?
To be honest, this flashed through my mind earlier today, that someone would come up with the "retribution for Pearl Harbor" crap. And even though I thought, oh, surely not, they couldn't stoop that low, I now realize yes indeed they would. As for them being christians, well, toss that one aside. I'm pretty sure these scum don't have a clue what being a christian means, and I'd venture a guess they are incapable of quoting Jesus' words. I was raised as a fundamental/evangelical/bible-thumping baptist, and it took me decades to finally realize what that was really all about. Stepped away from church several years ago, unable to believe the mean-spirited tripe being spewed from the pulpit, and haven't been back. In fact, I no longer buy into the judgment day business. Often wish I could. Would be nice to think these miserable excuses for christians are in for the big reality check when they depart this earth.

Thanks for your post. Much as I didn't want to hear this was Pearl Harbor Payback, it's useful to know it's out there. BTW, a good friend of mine and her family were taken to internment camps when she was an infant. Her mom was Nisei, her dad had moved here from Japan a year or two earlier and they settled in California. Big mistake. Their internment caused scars that never healed. Sorry to know your family members were part of that ugly piece of our history. I share your strong feelings about the "teabaggers", who are in a word hopeless, but please let me say I honor your ancestors for their service in the face of such awful discrimination.

95. I've lived in Japan, and this kind of bigotry makes me crazy
When Americans go to Japan as tourists, they invariably remark on how well the Japanese people treated them.

Having lived there, I have a more nuanced perspective--Japan has its own small subset of right-wing assholes, but they don't have a whole media empire encouraging them-- but it's worth noting that anyone who could have conceivably bombed Pearl Harbor has to be about 90 years old now, if they're still alive, and that EVERYONE under the age of 65 was born after World War II.

We paid that debt back in WWII - France owed us NOTHING.

I have often shared your sense of outrage (although my heritage is German - remember we also incarcerated some Germans during the same racial/ethnic "purge") but never captured it so powerfully as you say.

I just got back from the first of a Lenten small study group during which we are looking for evidence of God in today's broken world. Simmering under the surface was a great frustration across the group at the state of American politics and religion.

We spend more on cosmetics in this country than on education. Go figure. We are a superficial, Madison Avenue country that is on its way to hell in a hand basket.

112. Read your Howard Zinn!
North America was colonized by truly evil heartless mother-fuckers.

When I get down about it I like to assure myself that there are more truly evil heartless mother-fuckers living south
of the border and that Canada was colonized by gentler folk. My ancestors on both sides left the US at the time of the revolution.

However, I am ashamed to say our First Nations people in Canada are still getting a raw deal and the Islamaphobia promoted on American MSM (perhaps to prepare "patriotic" Americans to invade yet another Muslim country and slaughter and torture and economically loot millions more of them) is leaking over the border. Thank god in a milder form than the American variant.

How to deal with it. It can really drag you down. It can make your blood boil. But think what those haters are missing. Think of all the wonderful and various people they will never get to know and love. Think how rich your life is by comparison because you are not one of them. Thank your stars for that. And then do what Voltaire advised --- cultivate a garden.

Not that Voltaire didn't get involved in controversies in his lifetime. Obviously the evils in his lifetime persuaded him to become politically involved.

And P.S. I am sure there are millions of Americans who feel guilty about Hiroshima and Nagasaki rather than rave insanely about Pearl Harbor.

Just a comment. Not all 'trailer park' denzins are redneck idiots. I was forced into involuntary unemployment over a year ago. We talked it over and decided that buying a 'manufactured home' (aka mobile home) made the most sense for us. We bought a very nice double wide in a very nice, well kept, friendly 'park'. I'm a lifelong liberal who has never voted for a Republican in my life. Lumping all residents of trailer parks as rightwing nutcases is no different that claiming all Muslims are terrorists. 135. Infestation. You got that right...
And the shameless Kochroaches aren't even hiding their names or their ugly faces, either.

Years of listening to Rush Limbaugh and the rest has completely stolen their souls, if they ever had any.

They gave up their humanity a long time ago, and it looks like they bought into that dominionist crap.

It disgusts me to be sharing the same continent with them. I'm sorry that you are being subjected to this crap in any way.

We have room for a lot of Japanese refugees and they will be welcomed with open arms by the Americans I know.

Our best wishes for the people of Japan.
