3. They're not in the news business
They're in the catapulting the propaganda business. Haven't you heard how the 'rioters' in Madison have trashed the Capital building? Haven't you heard about what slobs they are, and how loud they snore?

4. When your 'news' operation is underwritten by the Koch Brothers
and other political active conservative corporations...the purpose of 'news' changes from informing to un-informing or mis-informing. A million people could have showed up in Madison and we'd be watching a 'breaking news' segment on a few hundred morons rallying in their medicare supplied scooters.

6. Because the corporatocracy had to
cow the Obama administration and their supporters, of course. Otherwise we might have made some actual progress around here.

11. because the same assholes controlling our govt are controlling our media
and people no longer have to pay them to do so - there are alternate streams of information available that are not wholly-owned subsidiaries of the power elite.

12. Rupert Murdoch and the Koch brothers don't want others to know what is going on.

They have carefully crafted the message the firemen's pensions are destroying the state...

MURDOCH THE MIXER OF BUSINESS AND POLITICS: James Fallows of the Atlantic Monthly points out that most of Murdoch's actions "are consistent with the use of political influence for corporate advantage." In other words, he uses his publications to advance a political agenda that will make him money. The New York Times reports that in 2001, for example, The Sun, Britain's most widely read newspaper, followed Murdoch's lead in dropping its traditional conservative affiliation to endorse Tony Blair, the New Labor candidate. News Corp.'s other British papers, The Times of London, The Sunday Times and the tabloid News of the World, all concurred. The papers account for about 35% of the newspaper market in Britain. Blair backed "a communications bill in the British Parliament that would loosen restrictions on foreign media ownership and allow a major newspaper publisher to own a broadcast television station as well a provision its critics call the 'Murdoch clause' because it seems to apply mainly to News Corp." http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2004/07/b122948....
