A friend of mine has a friend in Utsunomiyia, Japan and received this message
Their family is safe. Their house is messed up but still standing.

The gas rationing lines are 100 cars long and the electric rationing is 4 hours a day.

The pictures are horrific. I am not going to share them because they are not mine to share.

They are about halfway between Tokyo and the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant--and are very concerned.

4. Such a beautiful area. That's the town where you change trains for Nikko
which is my favorite (thus far) shrine. Is Utsunomiya in bad shape?

5. The pictures that I saw don't appear to be anything
more than a lot of broken windows, displaced belongings, some fences down--not horrible.
