Anyone getting black screen on YouTube?
I can get the site, but the play screen is totally black, no controls, nothing shows.
Sidebar of other videos show fine, so the site is UP,but player not working, it seems.
Therefore, I could not check on the "Is it just me" site, since it reports You Tube is available.
This happens on my Linux and on the Windows machines this morning. Last night was working fine.

anyone???

5. You might need to upgrade your Flash plugin
There's a new version out.

However, before you do anything, do the usual maintenance: Clear your cache, delete your cookies and reboot your machine.

9. I just know that when Flash comes out with a new version
...YouTube is the first to be rendered unwatchable until an updated plugin is installed. I'm not saying that's your problem. I'm just throwing out a possible explanation for your trouble. :)

6. If you are on a military computer, that would explain it.
someone posted yesterday that the Pentagon was blocking a bunch of popular sites (including YouTube) to free up bandwidth to deal with multiple crises. ME, Japan, etc.

11. Friday, Friday, Friday, Weeken, Weekend, Party, Party
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday...

That Ark Music Factory thing is creepy. I fully expect the guy that runs it to eventually be outed as a pedophile.

My Goddaughter showed me this video yesterday and I keep playing it.

It's like a train wreck. Horrible but I have to keep watching.

I'm tellin ya, there's something severely wrong going on with that place. It reminds me of those "modeling agencies" where rich parents pay enormous amounts of money for classes, wardrobes, headshots and seminars yet their children never get anywhere in the profession.

24. Ok, he even looks creepy.
This was my first encounter with Ark Music.

My Goddaughter is 19 and she and all her college friends have been laughing at this video for nearly a week, I guess.

17. If running Firefox have you tried temporarily disabling all of your addons? Don't know
why that would affect just you tube, but just thinking...

20. Ha! guess what worked???
Turned off all the power at the power strip, which essentially clears DNS cache or something to that effect.
At least that is what I was told a few years ago, and it has worked before.

We have Linksys wireless, every once in awhile when we have a problem getting online,
I turn the power to the whole system off and then back on.
And it worked. For all 3 computers, one of which is a Windows, 2 are Linux, so I knew it was not the puters themeselves.

Thank y'all for taking time to help.

:hi:

21. That's great to hear!!! You know, I have something like that happen here from time to time, not
exactly the same, but the router and the modem get out of synch. Basically I have to shut off the router and the modem, and here they want you to also disconnect the ISP cable to the modem. You leave it all sit awhile, then hook up the cable back up, then the modem on 'till it stabilizes, then the router on. I wish I had thought of that ...

I can tell when it's going to happen as some web sites come up and others act weird. It also forces the ISP to reinitialize the modem and as you said might have something to do with the DNS too.

Glad to hear you got it fixed!!!

:)

23. THAT's the phrase I was searching for..."initalize the modem".
Come to think of it, your description of sites "acting weird" is right on, plus..with the old Windows machine,
it has been acting weird, but now is all smoothed out since I cut the power strip.
Might make that a weekly maintenance thing...lol.

26. Are you on AT&T by any chance?
I've been having some weird issue with them today. Sync drops out intermittently for a couple of seconds then comes back. I can watch a whole movie uninterrupted via Netflix but then the sync light goes in and out while loading webpages.

I was getting black squares instead of jpgs at DU.

I don't know what cleared it up and even asked Skinner about it.

29. for a few weeks I've been getting something odd but not what you describe
Videos play and I have all the video controls, but every so often I get sections of the video screen or just black space popping up in the upper left corner of my monitor obscuring general page controls. Some of it can be "wiped" away by moving the cursor over it, but not all of it. This also has occurred in another window for another site entirely as long as I have a YouTube window open. The only thing that stops it when it happens is to close all windows that are a YouTube page.

I thought I had some kind of virus but I cleaned the computer with everything and nothing has been coming up as being a problem, yet I still have the problem. It only happens sometimes, but when it starts it doesn't stop until you close all windows with a YouTube website page whether anything is playing or on pause or not.

I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem but didn't have any luck googling, so I thought it was just me.

constantly crashing my browser, etc. try switching from safari to firefox, or vice versa and see what happens. Or maybe download a newer version.
