Hillary Clinton Would Not Serve Second Term In Obama Cabinet

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tells CNN's Wolf Blitzer in an interview set to air on Wednesday's edition of "The Situation Room" that she would not serve a second term in President Barack Obama's cabinet.

Executive Producer of CNN's "John King USA," Michelle Jaconi, relayed the news in a tweet on Wednesday afternoon. Here's an excerpt of the interview released by the network:

Q- If the president is reelected, do you want to serve a second term as secretary of state?

No

Q- Would you like to serve as secretary of defense?

No

25. Where is the implication that it's out of disgust with the administration?
If that's what was bugging her, she could step down anytime. If she thinks this administration's so nefarious, she wouldn't bother finishing out her term to the best of her ability.

It's probably a hell of a tiring and stressful job, she's in her sixties, and wants to do something a little less demanding given the current geopolitical situations.

I figured this announcement would bring out the "rats deserting a sinking ship" hopefuls.

29. She's disgusted with the admiistration?
I see she and Obama as cut from the same DLC cloth and in agreement about most of his policies in foreign affairs however disgusting they are. I'm applauding her leaving because I think that she is as much, if not more, a 3rd way neo-liberal as he is.

2. She should announce that PJ Crowley was correct in his statement
that what is being done to Manning by Defense Department officials "is ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid."

Otherwise she is another complicit pol.

8. ...
As for what might lie ahead for Clinton in her post-political life, she predicted last year that she'd likely "go back to advocacy work, particularly on behalf of women" after serving in the Obama administration. She added that she would conduct that work on a global scale, explaining, "If you look at what is still happening to women in many parts of the world it is tragic and terrible."

Sortof had it with her brand of "advocacy".

10. No, she won't.
In the exchange that follows, Clinton also signals she has no interest in servering as president or vice president of the United States. The indication should come as no surprise. Last year, she suggested her role in the Obama administration would be her "last public position."

Clinton reiterates the same outlook to Blitzer in the interview airing tonight. "I have no intention or any idea even of running again," she says. "I'm going to do the best I can at this job for the next two years."

12. Good for Her
I wonder if she might be thinking about another primary run against Obama.

She came damn close to getting the nomination during the last primaries. And with all the Obama buyer remorse she still just might have a fighting chance of getting that nomination.

20. Yeah, well as long as she is workig for Obama
she has to say that she doesn't intend to run. It doesn't mean she won't walk on Obama when primary season starts and run against him. I certainly wouldn't fault her for doing that. I'm sure she recognizes that a lot of people who voted for Obama are just so over him. Obama won't be reelected by selling hope and change next time around. He'll have to run on his record. Hillary damn near beat him during the last Dem primaries. Since then she has improved her standing and qualifications for the position and Obama has disappointed a whole lot of people that had higher expectations than what he has tried to deliver. I'm not so sure she couldn't take him down in the primaries if she wanted.

22. All politicians say that.
Then they DO. Politicians lie. It's what they do. I think they're born with a lie gene. Not that I wouldn't want her to run against BO. I would! Someone needs to.

27. Your words. Not mine.
Hillary has access to money and power, a healthy ego and a willingness to invest personally in a risky public contest. She's shown that and that's really all that is necessary for her to throw her hat into the ring and run against Obama.

Obama is going to have to run on an unimpressive record. He's not going to be re-elected by selling hope and change.

Hillary damn near beat Obama on weaker credentials when he was selling hope and change. She has stronger credentials now. And Obama's talk of hope and change has pretty much proven to be little more than smoke and mirrors.

It's probably a harder job physically than being president due to the constant international travel.

18. Of Course Not - She'll Be Too Busy Running For The 2016 Nomination..........
for President. I know she says she would not seek the presidency - but I don't believe her.

Do you think she wants Palin or Bachmann to be the first woman president (not that they have a chance but stranger things have happened - case in point - G.W. Bush)?

I'm convinced that she'll run and one of her strong points will be that she was a Senator and Secretary of State for 4 years and nobody is more qualified - and I mean Repug or Dem.

Watch!!!!!

she sees how well her husband has been doing with his Global Initiative and likely is going to follow suit, only on behalf of women.
