So... I still have hope
I'm pissed off.

I email the President every few days and tell him what I think he should be doing differently. Honestly... I do not expect he is going to listen to me but I do it anyway.

I tell him I think we should be out of Iraq.
I tell him I think we should be out of Afghanistan.
I tell him I think we need to stop subsidizing the rich at the expense of the poor.
I tell him I think we need to stand up for workers rights.
I tell him I think we need to prosecute bush and his cronies for their war crimes.
I tell him I think we need to have equal rights for everyone.

Shit... I'm not going to go through the whole laundry list, we all know what needs to be done. Yet fucking-A, it does not happen.

Except for brief stints with the Census and the ACLU (as a volunteer), I have been unemployed for almost three years. I've seen the rise of the teabaggers, bringing their old racist shit to a new brand of crazy that seems to allow them to be completely open about it.... Jesus H tap dancing christ, they make Nixon look like a good guy... I shit you not... Who ever thought that could be a true statement?

Yet... Here I am... I have not given up hope. I have hope in the people of this country to see the crazy for what it is and to finally reject it and come to their senses. I will not give it up.

I can't give it up, it's just not in me. I have hope.

1. Good for you.
We can't give up. I do think things are changing. There is hope.

2. Good on you OJ
I wish I shared your optimism. I see no hope left. We have let it get so bad that there will be no return to democracy during my lifetime. The fascists are brazenly and egregiously breaking the law, exhibiting corruption, executing coups d'etat, and bringing the economy down, and there is nothing being done about it (or nothing TO be done about it).

I lay 99% of the blame on Hate Radio and Fox "News". If those entities and their members had been dealt with aggressively over the last 20 years, we would be fine. But they weren't, and now democracy is dead as a door nail. RIP.

3. At this point (since I also sent an email to my reps)
I call it pretend participation. Things will change, once they realize the fire in the MidWest is the beginning of something they can't control
