I know of *many* educators with phEDs or phDs. It seems to me the advanced degree is one way to increased salary, if nothing else.

She's no "educator". She's a corporate storm trooper bent on nothing more than privatizing schools and wringing profit from them, teachers and students be damned.

The "blame-shifting" imbeciles that constantly attack teachers are (IMHO) doing nothing but destroying the education system ... all doing the dirty work for the privateers. Rhee is a failed teacher ... Peter-principled into admin. She's dangerous.

It's more the fault of administrators like her, along with the school boards and other bureaucrats who dictate the policy, than the teachers themselves. The teachers are more or less handcuffed by the limited system they are forced to work within. They need someone like this (and not her, Arne Dipshit, or Bill Gates) spear-heading an education overhaul:
