Damn, $4.09 for a gallon of regular today.
While there are many issues being faced both around the globe and here in the US that are both presently horrific and of long term consequences, lost in the blur of news is the fact that we are all being ripped off at the pump. It's not just a question of the cost of producing a gallon of gas rising, that may well be true to a small degree, but the real increase is speculation pure and simple. When the profits reports come out for this quarter, is there any doubt that the Big Oil companies are going to yet again show record profits? Yet those same Big Oil companies are still getting tax breaks. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

I know, there are worse things going on than paying over $4 a gallon for gas, I also know that I hate being ripped off and I can't forget about it.

4. How about some nice electric vehicles powered by the wind.
Oil has been propped up since the early 70s.

I'm not guessing - I live in and have worked in the middle of the domestic oilpatch.

But then I found out that there were many more ethical jobs out there - starting at crack whore.

Not sure if that last line is sarcasm or not.

3. No use forgetting it. Fuel costs will increase the price of everything
that travels by truck - which is everything.

And of course you are being ripped off - Exxon was the most profitable company in the world last year.

But they paid no federal income at all,

5. Jumped from $3.60 to $3.67 in the past couple of days
I expect to see $4 a gallon in Washington state before summer.

6. Happy days are here again..
Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear when you popped your V10 SUV into neutral and turned off the engine going down long hills in order to save gas.

Economic recovery for the common person will be but a naive fantasy in a world of continuously rising energy prices.

7. The problem is bigger than oil company gouging.
All the evidence I've seen seems to indicate peak oil occurred around 2007 or 2008, at least in terms of conventionally recoverable deposits.

The president from my state tried to warn us about this. We had 30 years to prepare and we did nothing. Drill, baby, drill.
