Ok this is mixed news
yes the radiation (main cloud) is going out to sea. Phew, not going over population centers... that is good, BUT...

IT IS GOING OUT TO SEA... this crap just don't go away... can you say fisheries? Which is what Japan relies on for a lot of it's food.

Just pointing this out to when our media goes... GOOD NEWS! Because the crap is now in the web of life... so it will come back one way or the other...

That is all.

5. Yes and no...
While radiation can potentially get absorbed by sealife, it is also like to spread and dissipate over a very large Pacific Ocean. Not sure what the likelihood is of a particular school of fish.

12. Disaster services motto
hope for the best, plan for the worst.

The other saying...

If you say it can't happen... it will.

Oh the last one...

Never say you have seen all, or your next shift will be amusing.

And yes while it dissipates relatively quickly it is NOW in the web of life and any school of fish getting exposed will concentrate in fatty acids,,, a similar biology actually to ... milk

No it just don't go poof

Considering this is long from being over and the wind will change directions several times before it's all over... I don't think there is any good news. And also lets not forget about the rain and snow that's happening over there right now that will also spread the radiation ;(

9. Actually I think rain and/or snow would be helpful
such as there is any help to be had. I think precipitation will 'knock it down' if you will. Reduce the spreading.
Just saying...

8. Some of the sushi places cant get the fish they normally get from Japan.
I'm wondering if we should eat it when it does come on line. I love sushi but maybe I need to limit it even more than I am to contain levels of mercury.

11. I'm actually watching a History Channel show on tuna right this minute, they
were focusing on how much fish they eat in Japan. The tuna comes in from around the world (bluefin) but I'm sure much of their fish comes from their own waters. :(

and I dare say on pretty much anything - chemicals, whatever - it's going to find it's way into/onto something in our atmosphere. Perhaps not enough to do a lot of damage and other times a huge catastrophic. It's there.
