Florida lawmaker resurrects anti-evolution bill "Why do we still have apes if we came from them?"
Florida lawmaker resurrects anti-evolution bill

In 2009, Republican Florida state Sen. Stephen Wise failed to pass a bill that would have required intelligent design to be taught in public schools.

Wise, who is now chairman of the Senate Education Committee, is at it again, hoping that his resurrected bill will fare better among newly elected Republicans.

"If you're going to teach evolution then you've got to teach the other side so you can have critical thinking," Wise told the Florida Times-Union in 2009.

....

"Why do we still have apes if we came from them?" Wise said. "And those are the kind of questions kids need to ask themselves. You know, 'how did we get here?' And, you know, there's more than one theory on this thing. And the theory is evolution, the other one is intelligent design."

Otherwise they'll end up looking like a total assclown, like this total assclown.

Here's a clue Stephen. We didn't come from them. Humans and apes both evolved from a common ancestor.

10. 'Wise', he's not.
They love the free market of ideas, except when it comes to science. Then, we need laws to keep irrational ideas on equal footing with science. Just because he's uneducated about the science or prefers to believe in magic, why should the rest of us living in a reality-based world be forced to adopt his world views?

14. Isn't that what church is for?
The very LAST thing these religious nut-jobs want is for children to develop "critical thinking" skills. Their sole (as opposed to soul) agenda is to ensure that another generation of indoctrinated flock will follow to keep the coffers full of that lovely, tax-free cash.

When they start teaching evolution in Sunday school classes -- and at Vacation Bible School -- then, maybe, their argument that it's all about "critical thinking" will hold water. Until then, it's nothing but Grade A bullshit.

Off to see if I can find an address for this DF's office. I think I may have just found my new pet project.

18. Why would you want the teachers you HATE to teach religion in public school?
Do these fools not see the situation they are trying to create?

They hate public schools and public school teachers, but they want those same teachers to teach religion to their kids.

I find it hilarious.

Of course the other reality is that IF they tried to teach "intelligent design" in public schools. Christianity is dead, because it is incredibly easy to destroy ID intellectually.

The main tactic of these nuts is to look for "gaps" in evolution, and where they find the smallest crack, they jam ID into it.

That won't work because when you put them on the table side by side, ID has to explain its gaps, and those are HUGE.

48. Here's one:
If Gawud created all creatures at the same time, but the dinosaurs that walked with Adam and Eve all drowned in The Flood, why are there no fossils of rabbits found in the same strata? We've found lots of other animals, thousands of them in fact, but no bunny fossils.

Had to be some rabbits around to leave their bones among those of the dinosaurs. Lots of poor drowned bunnies.

Noah only took two with him, as the infallible word of Gawud written in the Bible tells us.

Except no one can seem to find the fossilized bones of one of the most common mammals on Earth.

So, either rabbits didn't exist before The Flood, or they only existed after The Flood.

Either way, the Bible then got it wrong.

55. Here is my favorite line of attack ... image you are writing a test ...

Q1: The theory of Intelligent Design (point #1, always call it a "theory", drives them nuts) claims that there is a "designer" (notice I don't give the letter "d" a capitol letter as you would with "God"). What evidence does the theory of Intelligent Design provide to indicate that the "designer" is a "God" versus say an Alien Life Form?

Q2: Similarly, the theory of Intelligent Design claims that there is a ONE "designer". In defense of this position, the proponents of Intelligent Design often compare the "intelligent designer" to human designers. In such comparisons, we are introduced to many human designers, each designing for different purposes. Given the multitude of life forms on earth, what evidence does Intelligent Design provide to indicate that there is one designer, rather than many?

Q3: We know that in both humans and other life forms, we find mutations, and that at times, these mutations are deadly to those who have them. If the "intelligent designer" is in fact "God", doesn't this mean that "God" has a quality control problem? What evidence does ID provide to refute this conclusion?

I could go on all day!!!

42. Q: Are We Not Men?
Devo Jocko Homo Lyrics
Songwriters: Mothersbaugh, Mark

They tell us that
We lost our tails
Evolving up
From little snails
I say it's all
Just wind in sails
Are we not men?
We are Devo!
Are we not men?
D-E-V-O

We're pinheads now
We are not whole
We're pinheads all
Jocko homo
Are we not men?
We are Devo!
Are we not men?
D-E-V-O
Are we not pins?
We are Devo!

Monkey men all
In business suits
Teachers and critics
All dance the poot
Are we not men?
We are Devo!
Are we not men?
D-E-V-O
Are we not pins?
We are Devo!
Are we not men?
D-E-V-O

I got a rhyme that comes with a riddle
O-HI-O
What's round on the ends and high in the middle?
O-HI-O

God made man
But he used the monkey to do it
Apes in the plan
We're all here to prove it
I can walk like an ape
Talk like an ape
Do what a monkey can do
God made man
But a monkey supplied the glue

...more stupid than the day before, and every day, they prove me wrong.

Critical thinking? Well, gee, Mr. Wise, why do we still have coelocanths, since they are the oldest in the lineage of lobe-finned fish? I guess they should have all died out the second a newer model came along, because you know, biology is just like the automotive industry - once a newer model is made, Mother Nature stops making the older ones.
