63. That's absolutely right. The more we sacrifice the more they they are given
in bonuses and perks.

They definitely "share" our sacrifices among themselves. They just don't make any sacrifices of their own like we do. :grr:

17. unfortunately, we are not even fighting - except with ourselves
"You live inside a plutocrat war—a war being waged by the top one percent. (Well—by the top one-tenth of the top one percent.) This war has been underway for thirty-five years; the plutocrats clearly are winning. In the process, all average people are getting looted—those who voted for Bachmann, those who voted for her opponent. But guess what? The plutocrats will continue to win as long as we slow-witted liberals keep taking the bait from cynics like O’Donnell—as long as we keep getting conned into heightening our tribal wars.

Duh. When the 99 percent get split into two warring tribes, the one percent will roll to big wins. You’ve probably heard the phrase: Divide and conquer!"

http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh031711.shtml

The other part is that the top 25% tend to do okay as well, and they can out-vote the bottom 75%. Fairly simply if 80% of the top 25% vote they can outvote the bottom 75% if less than 30% of us vote. And especially they can out vote us when dollars count more than votes. Even in 1986, the top 25% got 59% of the income compared to just 41% for the bottom 75%. Now that the bottom 75% is down to just 32% of the income, it is that much easier, especially if one were to figure disposable income - that which is available to be donated to candidates.

64. We have been disarmed, so we can't fight.
If we ever try to fight, the police stand against us. The courts stand against us.

The media unites and stands against us, and never underestimate how huge and influential the media really is.

Even a lot of other people who should be our allies will stand against us, because of the influence of the media and the police/courts. Once you are branded a troublemaker, people listen, believe it, and act accordingly.

And never forget that the at the highest level, they own our government. They own the people who make the very rules. They own the corporations that run the media.

We have been disarmed so that we aren't allowed to fight back.

Us CEOs (oink oink) EARNED our wealth and worked 500 times harder than you did. That's why you're poor, because ya don't WORKS hard enough!!

Now pull your bootstraps up, shine my goddamned shoes, don't ever destroy my fluffy comfy bubble of wealth-fattened heaven and stop interrupting my doing whatever I WANT to do! You're put on this earth to please ME, goddamnit.

19. I blame the gov't regulators more than
the Wall Street fuck. If they had been able to do their jobs with proper backing from the gov't, these clowns would've been on a much tighter leash. They'd still pull in money, but much more responsibly and with a long-term view of things.

That being said, tax these fuckers back into the Stone Age. I'm sure they'll take their "talent" somewhere else. :sarcasm:

1) those regulators make more than Judy but a tiny fraction of Wall St pay.

2) this is a classic example of a personal responsibility FAIL. The perpetrator is always the primary party to blame.

29. The fact that this is true and accepted as such by a majority of our country makes it
- all the more sad that it simply continues without millions of us 98%ers descending on Washington D.C. to demand a reversal of fortunes. Wisconsin is a lesson regarding the return of the power of protesting. I know we're supposed to be the ones we are waiting for but none of us seems ready or able to take the first step; for instance, camping outside of the white house or across the street or anywhere in D.C. with enough space?

Surely we can start with the number of homeless people who are homeless simply because of the banks mortgage lies. Then add in all the college kids who can't even find a job in their own country thanks to the associated recession and a 30 year history of corporate outsourcing. So many of us put out good ideas but honestly, it's a charasmatic leader/speaker that appears to be needed to gather the masses.

Look at how ready people were to gather and support Obama when he inspired them. It was the huge crowds that got the attention of everyone, including the press and Washington D.C., too bad all of that hit a brick wall when it came to actually being President. Say what you will about the power of the people but just as with Unions, the power of the people works best when organized by someone.

Sigh... I think I'm just too old now and too sad to keep fighting. Protesting wars and environmental issues since the 60's has really taken it's toll. I need a time out to recharge. Meanwhile, I'll keep hoping our children (and theirs) will look up from their iPods, iPhones, iPads, Facebook and Twitter accounts long enough to realize this country really needs their attention and energy, right now.

Peace, out.

Edited on Mon Mar-21-11 11:35 AM by Urban Prairie
over a financial barrel, they are in a daily struggle just to get by, or have family members with illnesses/drug/alcohol/legal troubles that consume much of their time and/or do not have the means and/or the time to do so. The others who "should" be aware of this growing threat to their future are either ignorant or indifferent to it, or perhaps believing that "someone else" will do the activist protesting for them
