How many more crises can Obama have thrown at him?
Before he throws his hands up exclaiming "It's just not worth it!"? (metaphorically, of course)

I may not agree with tacts he has chosen, but in modern American history a President has never had so many domestic and global problems as Obama has faced.

I salute your fortitude and calm under pressure, Mr. President.

1. How about FDR?
Edited on Mon Mar-21-11 08:11 PM by MannyGoldstein
I'm of the opinion that FDR had more crises and worked hard to do the best for the most.

2. A once-in-history President to be sure
Unfortunately, the right has been trying to destroy his ideas and programs since they were implemented.

I still salute Obama's staid determination.

7. Yes, I agree. FDR also didn't try to help Corporations most.
He wasn't bailing out banks first with almost all of the governments resources, and then claiming that people had to help themselves because the government was out of money.

He resisted going to war instead of being a warmonger who deliberately extended one, continued a second indefinitely, and started a third. (While still telling people that they had to help themselves because the government was out of money! Funny, there seems to be money for those wars.)

Comparing Obama to FDR really shows clearly what a f*ck-up Obama is today.

20. Here's a partial list
Bush's two wars: Iraq and Afghanistan
The oil spill in the gulf
The economy, jobs, and housing
Japan's nuclear plant and tsunami recovery assistance
Libya
etc...

If I were President Obama I'd say: Take this job and show it!

There is only ONE domestic and global problem : RICH PEOPLE

The voters gave Democrats and the Obama Administration a mandate for change starting in 2006.

Wha happened?

16. a General Strike ?!?!?
or a natural disaster

or a successful terrorist attack

or an epidemic of some type (bird flu kinda thing for real this time)

Israel in an all out war

Iran announcing it has nuclear weapons

need I go on?

High gas prices are an inconvenience but hardly a crisis.

Do you also think that the USA should not have done anything about Hitler too?

40. Gaddafi is a tyrant, but he's not committing genocide
This is a civil war, one of dozens going on in the world right now. Should we intervene in every one?

(Or, interestingly enough, only in the countries that have oil? See a pattern?)

18. I doubt it
he walked back that statement today on MSNBC, pulling what I call "a Beck" and saying that he was just raising the question. He also questioned the constitutionality of the War Powers Act. If he can get the SCOTUS to rule that the WPA is unconstitutional then he would be able to make a case for impeachment, until then he is simply making a fool of himself.

He will be on The Ed Show soon so we can watch that and see if he makes any news.

24. Hmm. All good points...
I think I'm starting to develop a steely dislike for him. A creeping feeling of being hoodwinked.

There are no crises. He created all the current and former messes by trying to build consensus (a naive concept) and act constrained under pressure. Perhaps it was his goal all along.

Run as a Democrat, govern as a republican.

Thanks, DU for setting me straight. Now who should I vote for? An Independent?

I feel sorry for Mr. Obama.. I'm sure his kids go to bed hungry and he worries where his next meal will come from and how is going to heat his 3rd floor walk-up.

Not unlike the American people who are suffering while their jobs are shipped to CHINA and the military spends $436 Million-a-day in Afghanistan.
