DU this Richard Scaife poll on Education Cuts in Pennsylvania
Edited on Tue Mar-22-11 10:43 AM by demodonkey

PA's new Republican Governor Tom Corbett wants to cut funding for education by a whopping 54%. He claims he needs to do this because of budget shortfalls, yet won't even THINK of taxing the huge, huge, huge Marcellus Shale Gas industry which is moving in to his state (and donates a lot to Corbett's campaign coffers as well as those of his buddies.)

Please DU this poll, down a little on the homepage -- the local paper that is running it is part of "Trib Total Media" owned by Richard Mellon Scaife!

Warning, the poll is wonky and doesn't seem to be recording every vote, especially those that say it is not necessary to cut education spending. Please let us know on this thread how it is going.

Your vote was recorded.

It's a necessary move to help lower state spending.
55% (29 votes)
It's not necessary to cut education spending.
45% (24 votes)
I have a different opinion and will post it below.

I live in Western Pa and our schools are bad enough without cuts to them. Plus, our rivers are being polluted by Marcellus Shale and he has cut all environment regulations to them as well as not allowing them to be taxed.
