Villagers reportedly shot during Libya rescue‎
Witnesses differ on shooting during U.S. rescue
Probe underway into reports that U.S. fired on civilians during rescue of downed F-15 crew; Disparate accounts on injuries

(CBS/AP) A high-ranking Navy officer tells CBS News Correspondent David Martin an investigation is underway into the rescue of one of two downed American crew members whose F-15 fighter crashed over Libya.
During a briefing Tuesday, Admiral Samuel Locklear, refused to address a British television report that several Libyan civilians were shot by the crew of a Marine Osprey aircraft during the rescue.

1. Only Americans believe we can be a world power and never kill anyone.
Civilians, btw, is a dicey term in an armed rebellion.

2. If true, it happened near Benghazi so it's civilian rebels the Gaddafi lobby doesn't like anyway.

You know, one of those people many would've happily let die last Saturday at Gaddafi's hands.

NOW it matters if a few Benghasians are dead or not?????? Yeah, right.

The story's doubtful anyway. It's reported that the other airman had a pretty good exchange with the locals, so it's hard to see how the other one was involved in killing civilians not too far away. Possible, but not likely.

Bullshit meter says "no" to this story. Sounds like it came from Gadaffi's PR machine, which is working overtime very obviously. (I wonder how much they're being paid? No doubt it's one or more of his DC lobbying firms.)
