Her inner beauty far outshone her obvious physical beauty
She had it all, really. Born of wealthy parents. A Hollywood star before she reached her teens. A woman possessed of incredible, nearly perfect physical beauty.

All of that is eclipsed by her inner beauty, her compassion, her love of her fellow man and those seen as being among the least of us.

She was gay friendly before the concept existed. She gave of her fortune, but more importantly - far more importantly - of herself to the causes she supported. The strides we've made in AIDS research would have been less were it not for Elizabeth Taylor.

She was a definitive woman.

She defined love and care and selflessness.

She defined an American beauty.

She defined a smart businessperson.

She defined movie star.

She defined diva.

She defined glamor.

She defined career success.

She defined humanity - flawed and lovely all at once.

I shall miss her greatly as she lives on in some of the greatest films ever made, with some of the greatest stars that ever made them.

6. When I was a child my mother took me to see Butterfield 8.

I fell in love with her. I dreamed one day to meet her and kiss her on the cheek just so I could say that I did. I came from the Marilyn Monroe era and Elisabeth was number one for me.

7. I remember seeing National Velvet
with my mother and loved it. Elizabeth and I are the same age and I suppose my only claim to fame is to say I outlived Elizabeth Taylor.
