Randy Hopper recall organizer says they’ve got the signatures to trigger a new election
Randy Hopper recall organizer says they’ve got the signatures to trigger a new election

From PolitiScoop:

Efforts to recall Republican State Senator Randy Hopper from Fon du Lac have reached another milestone, as organizers issue a call for volunteers to turn in any remaining petitions to be counted. Organizer Scott Dillman says he’s sure they have enough signatures to trigger the recall, but he can’t give exact figures yet. He says, processing all the information they’ve collected so far will take a week. They need 15,000 signatures to trigger the recall and he had originally set a goal of 20,000 by April first. He says he should have set that goal higher. Once Dillman tallies and submits his petition, a candidate will have to step up to run against Hopper in the recall, which could happen by this summer.

15. At least she still resides in the District
so she would be a legitimate candidate. On the other hand, you want to make sure she is at least somewhat on the liberal side of the coin.

5. I imagine signatures need to be verified etc.......
Some if not many signatures can be disallowed, especially of the election officials are of the uh - wrong party.

6. why did he admit he should have set it higher?

10. LOL
That's the point I was trying to make, only not as clearly as you did. Not to mention my horrible grammar that it is too late to edit now. You're right....why did he admit it? Still, there is time to get more signatures before the deadline, and I am glad to hear that Hopper's troubles are not being ignored. Thanks for everything you're doing in WI. You guys give us all strength.

4. They should continue to collect MORE signatures....
because the republicans are going to have as many as they can tossed out.
An additional 5,000 to 10,000 would be a better buffer!

17. Right. Keep collecting right up to the deadline.
People in Hopper's district would be idiots not to recall him. The guy is an ethical swamp.

11. most excellent!
my fear is that they really don't care. Their job was to get the bill passed. I can't help but feel like they knew it was political suicide...which makes me think that there will be some sort of job or payoff that would have made it worth throwing away their political career. I don't want to think like that but...man...these guys have been well-orchestrated and have planned for a lot of different scenarios. They must have realized there would be backlash.

18. That was actually in another district - and they were returned
which is how the recall people got the man's description and license plate number.
