Is preoccupation with "teh stupid" uniquely American?
Growing up in Detroit, I got the opportunity to follow Canadian politics via CBC. With a smaller population, our northern neighbors do not face as many huge issues as we do. But despite all the "free time", I don't recall an election that centered around stupid things. No birtherism, no "death panels", no crazy talk of shooting illegal immigrants like wild hogs. EIn Europe and Asia, I still cannot find a country whose politicians stories about their presidents being secretly born in foreign lands. So the question is, is "teh stupid" uniquely American?

4. It's a parody of what we've observed in Right Wing writings and on Right Wing protest signs.

"Morans" is another prime example of that here.

3. bigotry knows no bounds...ever heard of Geert Wilders?
He's a Dutch politician who as an agnostic ran on an aggresively anti-Muslim platform that sought to impose religious freedom restrictions on Dutch Muslims. And Switzerland passed a law banning minarets. These kinds of laws/propositions wouldn't fly in America, where "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Similarly, the Swedish Democratic Party has an anti-immigration platform like many other newly elected European parties do.
