Bradley Manning needs our help
Dear (Smarmie),
Bradley Manning, the alleged whistleblower of the WikiLeaks documents, has been charged with "wrongfully obtaining classified material for the purpose of posting it on the Internet, knowing that the information would be accessed by the enemy; the illegal transmission of defense information; fraud; and aiding the enemy."
Manning has been subjected to what the CIA defines as "no-touch" torture, and even the New York Times is "troubled" by Manning's treatment.
The WikiLeaks documents Manning allegedly leaked, including the "Collateral Murder" video, provide transparency that has long been needed. Manning should be considered a hero for his bravery in allegedly leaking classified documents that reveal American war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Daniel Ellsberg said recently, "I'm very impressed that Bradley Manning ... that he was prepared, he was ready to go to prison for life or even be executed ... in order to share this information with the American people who needed to have it."
Please take action for Pfc. Bradley Manning and the American people by calling the White House and asking President Obama to drop the charge of "aiding the enemy," ensure Manning's humane treatment, and investigate war crimes.
As Gandhi said, "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win." Their next step is to fight us.
Let's preempt them by deluging the White House with calls on Monday, March 28. Call the White House at 202-456-1111. Remember, the White House only answers the phone between 9:00 and 5:00 Eastern time.
Free Bradley Manning!
In solidarity,
Susan Harman, Accountability and Justice IOT coordinator
