1. If Smedley isn't THE MOST quoted general on DU
he just must be 2nd!

The "War is a Racket" gets posted hundreds of times per year.

It's good. Yes, very good.

Glad it has fallen into the hands of another who appreciates it.

But agreed. His personal integrity speaks volumes. The fact that half the places he fought aren't mentioned in US history textbooks is a scandal. But they're sure as hell mentioned in my classroom.

10. Not only did Major General Smedley Butler...
speak truth to power by writing War is a Racket, but, even more importantly, almost single-handedly prevented the plot to overthrow FDR in the 30s by military coup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smedley_Butler).

Butler is a true hero. He cannot be quoted enough on DU, IMO.
