Maine Gov. Removes Labor Mural in Stealth Move
http://blog.aflcio.org/2011/03/28/maine-gov-removes-labor-mural-in-stealth-move/

by Tula Connell, Mar 28, 2011

Over the weekend, Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) secretly removed from a state building an 11-panel mural depicting working families’ history. Like Republican state legislators in Wisconsin who passed a bill killing collective bargaining through a series of dirty tricks, Maine’s Republican governor operates away from the public eye—despite being an elected official accountable to taxpayers.

LePage resembles Wisconsin Republicans in another way—giving jobs to personal connections, in this case, his daughter. LePage made sure his 22-year-old daughter got an entry-level job in the governor’s office paying $41,000—$10,000 more than those who pass teacher and police tests. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s top aides found a comfy job—with a $12,000 raise—for the girlfriend of one of his staunchest allies.

3. I'm waiting for him to remove the farmer and fisherman from the state flag and seal.
To be replaced with a businessman handing a fistful of dollars to a politician. He'll probably change the state motto from "vacationland' to 'open for business (and a little corruption, too)"

5. E-mail from our right winger neighbor
After we retired, my husband and I moved to FL for the winter but always come back to Maine in the summer. We have a right wing neighbor who had his house and yard plastered with LePage signs last summer. (Of course he listens to Rush all day, too) With all that is going on in Maine with LePage, my husband e-mailed the neighbor to ask him if he still supported LePage.

Here is the neighbor's answer:

Wow Dan; Sure seems you got your 'spring' wound up a bit this AM, as you
> might expect I'm 100 precent behind him, finally we have someone in the
> Blane house with some 'balls'...

How do you fix stupid??? Of course, the Gov we have in Florida is just as bad, but we sure didn't vote for Scott so we can't take the blame for the FL idiot.

6. Year Zero
'The idea behind Year Zero is that all culture and traditions within a society must be completely destroyed or discarded and a new revolutionary culture must replace it, starting from scratch. All history of a nation or people before Year Zero is largely irrelevant, as it will (as an ideal) be purged and replaced from the ground up.

In Cambodia, teachers, artists, and intellectuals were especially singled out and executed during the purges accompanying Pol Pot's Year Zero.'

7. Citizens should find an alternative place to display them. A place that
is even more visible than a government office. Who do those panels actually belong to?

8. Probably in the dead of night
Like all thieves and Republicans. They do their best work in the dark.

Now, what I want to know is, where is the mural now? Several museums have offered to take the mural. We have to see that the mural is not DESTROYED.
