Rupert Murdoch just wet his pants....
If you've missed the UK news Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp wing (which owns a good chunk of the British media) has been caught hacking into the phones of British people and using the info to undermine any liberal opponents. Murdoch's minions have stayed quiet and tried to kill the story. One way they tried to kill it was to say that all of their emails from the hacking time period were lost.

Well...not so lost...copies of the emails surfaced, millions of emails...and a judge just ruled for "rolling disclosure" for the emails. Basically everyone suing Newscorp et al gets a copy of the emails.

Up to 4000 people were hacked by this ONE hired Newscorp investigator but most of proof they had up until now was that he was mostly acting alone and Newscorp branded him a rogue acting alone. These emails most likely contain multiple references to hacking and will surely blow Murdoch's case wide open.

So far they've settled the first lawsuits out of court for around a million bucks a piece. If 4000 hackees sue...imagine how much damage Murdoch's empire, including FOX, might take. Who knows, some of these Emails might contain information that AMerican Newscorp employees were also hacking phones here in the states.

Enjoy the article!! Good news for everyone but Murdoch.

2. I wondered if he did the same thing over here in America:
Well, as luck would have it, tabloid-level smear stories like this one (see article: John Kerry Girl Tells All):

"THE beauty said to have had a fling with presidential hopeful John Kerry has recorded a bombshell tell-all interview.

"Journalist Alex Polier taped a talk with a US TV network at Christmas.

"The former Washington intern, 27, told all about an alleged fling with the 60-year-old super-rich senator in spring 2001."

Yes, a day before the actual woman actually spoke to say there was no affair and she wasn’t even an intern (see AP News article: Woman Denies Affair With Kerry), Murdoch’s paper not only made the above claim, but went further on to push his right-wing political agenda by asserting against all reality:

"Kerry was front-runner for the Democratic nomination to take on George Bush in November. His hopes were hit as hints of a scandal emerged."

Hmm, odd statement to make when, in fact, this "scandal" has not emerged as anything but rumor and has not "hit" Kerry at all, as he continues to roll on.

But what The Sun is really reporting is that Murdoch is planning a "hit" on Kerry, and, as you see clearly here, he will use his vast holdings worldwide to carry out his agenda.

Murdoch’s agenda in the past has included union-busting in the UK, pushing first capitalism in China (i.e. his right to make money) then a reversal to a soft stance on communism in return for the right to own media there. In the UK currently, he is doing everything possible to undo the BBC – and the situation regarding the death of David Kelly is bringing him nearer to his goal, as currently, "Leaked Whitehall documents revealed the (British) government has considered breaking up the (BBC) corporation into "separate entities for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland". (see Scotsman article: Ministers Urged to Rule Out BBC's National Break-up)http://www.moderateindependent.com/v2i4world.h

37. Well if he got away with it there for so long, the odds are that he tried it here.
People who are drunk on power tend to be blinded by their success in taking risks and keep grabbing until they get really caught (as in, exposed enough so that now everyone knows what they're doing and how the influence is happening).

60. And tend hate foreigners, especially those from the Mid-East
And the Saudis own a huge chunk of FOX News:

Saudi Prince Backs Murdoch, Ups News Corp. Stake

New York - The title of this financial romance: Rupert and the prince. The players: The chairman of News Corp. (nyse: NWS - news - people ) and Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

The billionaire aristocrat's office on Tuesday announced he upped his stake in the media and entertainment colossus to 5.46% of voting shares.

But Alwaleed's statement went beyond mere dollars and cents--and Saudi riyals--as the prince's statement also included a more personal cri du coeur, voicing his support for Rupert Murdoch's leadership.

In November, Alwaleed had already vouchsafed Murdoch his comradeship, offering to back the chairman by buying more News Corp. shares via the Saudi's investment company, Kingdom. The comforting words came as Liberty Media (nyse: L - news - people ) began to rattle its sabers. Last month, Liberty Chairman John Malone menacingly said he'd consider raising Liberty's 18% voting stake in News Corp.; Murdoch's firm extended a "poison pill" provision to block him.

In Tuesday's statement, Alwaleed, ranked No. 5 on the Forbes World's Richest People list, declared, "Last November I said that I had the utmost confidence in Mr. Murdoch, his management team and his succession planning, and that if necessary, the Kingdom companies would replace their non-voting shares with voting shares." He continued, "The Kingdom companies now own a significant interest in News Corporation voting shares and may purchase more if the situation warrants."

It seems likely that only Malone can ensure that the "situation warrants."
