Attack of the fish
Ray slams woman on boat in Florida KeysBy Kimberly Segal, CNN
March 29, 2011 1:59 p.m. EDT

Miami (CNN) -- An eagle ray weighing as much as 300 pounds landed on top of a woman on a boat in the Florida Keys last week, throwing her to the deck and pinning her underneath it -- the "scariest thing" that's ever happened to her, she said.
The woman, Jenny Hausch, was on the chartered boat Friday with her husband and three children, taking pictures of a group of eagle rays as they flew out of the water.
"These eagle rays, they were flying through the air," said Kelly Klein of Two Chicks Charters, the captain of the boat. "These giant things go out of the water and slam back down."

375-pound shark leaps into Texas fisherman's boat
Tuesday, March 29, 2011

03-29) 11:37 PDT Freeport, Texas (AP) --

It's the catch of a lifetime, but it's not clear whether a Texas fisherman landed an 8-foot shark or it landed him.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jason Kresse (KRES'-ee) of Freeport says he and two crew members were dumping fish guts in the Gulf of Mexico about 3:45 a.m. Monday when they heard splashes in the distance and then something hit the side of their 25-foot boot.

A shark in an apparent rush to feed had jumped into the back and was thrashing around. Kresse says the crew couldn't get close to the 375-pound fish to toss it back in the water.

3. Beautiful fish. Doesn't look like 300 lb., though.
Eagle rays do that a lot. A wonderful sight to see. I'm glad to hear the woman's OK. It's pretty stupid to put your boat in the middle of a bunch of leaping rays, though, to take a picture. Just asking for trouble.

5. saw some video of these on you tube
they swim like a bird in flight. when they jump out of the water it looks like they're trying to become airborne. A few years ago a woman in Florida was killed when one jumped into a boat and landed on her.
