1st Quarter Glenn Beck lost -30% total viewers - 37% Age 25-54 Viewers
Edited on Tue Mar-29-11 05:30 PM by RamboLiberal
While Glenn Beck and Greta Van Susteren easily made the Top 12, the shows are down the most for the network. Compared to Q1 2010, Beck was down -30% in Total Viewers and down -37% in A25-54 viewers, while “On the Record” was down -23% in Total Viewers and down -28% in younger viewers.

2011 hasn’t been a good year for Fox News’ Glenn Beck. His eponymous show is down 30% in average viewership, and down 37% among the cable news advertiser target adults 25-54 demo vs. the first quarter of 2010. The 5-6pm competition on both CNN and MSNBC saw increases during that same comparison period.

I don’t pay any attention to the various rumors swirling around the show, but the ratings are no rumor.

3. I guess there comes a point
where there are limits to stupidity beyond which one loses audience. There may be hope yet for you so-called conservatives.

4. Glenn Beck's schtick...
...was to keep his audience in a hyper, white-hot manic state of trauma-induce fear.

Every day Beck's hair was on fire with some new unimaginable, bloodthirsty crisis from hell.

Seriously. Fans can only maintain that state hypervigilant state for so long. Burnout does happen.

His ratings fell, because his audience is resting.

8. I feel compelled as usual to point out that when it says 'top 12'
it means 'top 12 cable news shows' which is a bit like '12 thinnest Sumo wrestlers', a relative term. Most DU readers see a 'top tv show' in the traditional frame, drawing a huge national audience, but these shows get very small audiences to begin with, and any loss is a major thing. O'Reilly, at number one, is beaten out by cartoon reruns, he is not even first in his time slot in cable, just in 'cable news' which is of course, three outlets.

10. His contract is up soon. I predict that they will not renew it.
I also predict that one of his lunatic followers will shortly thereafter, blow up Fox's HQ in NYC.

11. Maybe give The Beckler and Greta Van Xenu a show together?
Then use the free time slot for . . . oh, I don't know, some informercials?

13. Many of his viewers were Dems watching the freak show
Once the people on our side got tired of updating progressive blogs with his latest douchebaggery, the ratings began their decline. ;)

16. What Happened?
Did Republican budget cuts require the mental hospitals to cancel their cable subscriptions? Maybe not. If he lost the mentally ill audience his numbers would have dropped by a much bigger percentage. :)

17. Let us hope that they realized they were being used and they'll take
that knowledge with them to whatever pundit replaces Beck. Maybe they'll be a bit more discerning about what they believe ....... okay a tiny itty bitty bit more discerning.

They were artificially high last year because it was an election year. I would bet all partisan shows are down.
