Five men dead inside Hialeah motel; carbon monoxide could be killer
Five young men were discovered dead inside a Hialeah motel room Monday, and investigators believe carbon monoxide poisoning could be the killer.
In the early afternoon, an employee at Hotel Presidente, 1395 SE Eighth Ct., looked through a window and saw five men who appeared unconscious. The employee called 911.
Firefighters and police responded and discovered all men were dead, Hialeah Fire spokesman Cesar Espinosa said.
Police are still investigating, but authorities believe carbon monoxide caused the deaths, Espinosa said.
A car was found running in a garage beneath the men's motel room. The garage door was closed, but a door connecting the room and the garage was open, Espinosa said. He said it took at least a half-hour for carbon monoxide to clear the room.
