Did you like the idea of a public health insurance option?
Well Obama has tapped one of the main crusaders against it, as his campaign manager.

Shunning Grassroots that Propelled ’08 Election, Obama Turns to Corporate Insider, Anti-Public Option Campaign Manager Jim Messina

Republicans and Democrats are already gearing up for the 2012 election, projected to be the most expensive in history. Obama is expected to formally kick off his re-election bid on April 14, and his campaign could raise as much as $1 billion. In a move criticized by progressives, Obama has appointed former White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina as his campaign manager. Obama’s move has drawn scrutiny over Messina’s ties to corporate America, his push to drop the public option from healthcare reform, and his lack of support for gay rights. We speak with journalist and author Ari Berman about his new profile of Messina in The Nation. "Messina has a ‘take no prisoners’ style; the problem is, the people he’s often taking prisoner are Democratic activists and grassroots organizers,” Berman says.

5. Dems might want to remember what happened when they assumed Progressives
had nowhere else to go in 2000. Yeah, it turned out badly for everyone, but it was disenchanted Progressives who made the difference. If Dems had nominated a Progressive, imagine how different things would be today. Lieberman in the no. 2 spot? Really?

7. Honestly
Progressives might do well to remember this too.

All we have to do right now is look to Wisconsin. We really do have nowhere else to go.

16. Progressives are stepping in to clean up the mess moderate Dems have made in WI.
That's the lesson!

18. Yeah right
the same "progressives" that pretend the dem party is the same as the pukes and didn't bother to vote because of it are now realizing the incredible folly of their idiocy.

20. You mean the party that nominated Lieberman to be one heartbeat away from the White House?
Yeah, that was nothing like what the Pukes would do.

10. I have nowhere to go so I'd better be given a good reason
to go out and vote, otherwise I'll sit it out. Voting is optional.

3. Obama won't be getting my vote anyway, so I guess his choice
doesn't make a bit of difference to me.

6. Meet the new Boss....Same as the old Boss
Maybe that should be Obama's campaign slogan instead of that wimpy stuff about Hope and Change.

8. Maybe the word election does quite fit the bill, anymore?
It seems more like a, keep the people thinking that it is their government, public relations event.

You do have to spend as much as you can on something like that because it is dangerous and fatal if the people get some notion that they are only pretending to have a real democracy and a choice in what is enacted.

sockpuppets to descend on DU soon. Apparently, Messina is quite paranoid, so expect them to appeal to your fear of having no where else to go.

14. YAY!
:puke:

At this rate this party's "center" will be in the neighborhood of Dick Luger moving toward Orrin Hatch by 2014.

It is like we want Lieberman to be the Kucinich of our next guard.

Who are we running in 2016, a "moderate" like Bob fucking Corker?

15. Despicable
Just as despicable as Immelt. Please Mr. President, help me believe in you - give me reasons to have faith in your ability to create progress. Ditch these asshats, or you will lose my vote. Even if I have to resort to a write in campaign. I've had it with this shit.

17. Really Obama?
A pro-corporate, anti-public option, and anti-gay rights guy as your campaign manager? It seems every passing day you are making it hard for me to want to vote for you again. But I will, because the alternative is unthinkable.

Of hassle-free health care, without fear of getting harassing phone calls from bill collectors and ending up in debtors prison.
