We really do live in a banana republic
In 1980, they manipulated voters by illegally colluding with an enemy government to embarrass a sitting president.
In 2000, they were willing to openly disenfranchise people who actually voted by invalidating their ballots.
In 2004, they quietly added votes electronically as needed
in 2011, they don't even bother to hide the fact, they just make up phantom votes to steal an election.

And you folks think that Obama (or any dem) is a safe bet to win any election?

5. You can believe that the ratio of votes was 10:3 there if you want to
It probably comforts you to be so assured that our Democracy(tm) is so secure. Even when a hyperpartisan person has entire control/access to the votes of the town and is the only person who reports/counts them. Keep Shopping, Citizen!

4. Nice summary of the disenfranchising of a nation
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 07:37 PM by howaboutme
Democratic legislators had 4 years to put together legislation that would correct the "Help American Politicians be Elected Fraudulently Act" that used proprietary corporate black box voting machines without a paper receipt.

Instead the Ds didn't even touch it, just like they didn't touch Bush's impeachment. Correcting the voting machines was a political no-brainer. The people wanted it but the politicians didn't. That should tell you something. Where is the supposed opposition Party that is intended to correct abuses and hold others accountable? I'm convinced we need a third Party that will take the real issues and run with them unlike those who thrive on the status quo probably because they have a vested interest.

Question 2- Why wasn't Bush impeached? See above.
