Each county should post the number of ballots cast for each precinct. The judge from each precinct should verify visually that their precinct votes were tallied in the final count for the county. The County BOE official should verify that the number of ballots voted appears on the final State tally. The SOS should verify that the states official ballot count appears on the national official vote tally. In Ohio there is no such structure.
I worked for years as a poll worker in Ohio. It would be so easy to have accountability at every level. The situation in WI would never have happened because if an entire city was missing from the total someone would have squawked way before the winner was announced.
They say, follow the money...well I say follow the votes until they are all counted. I gave up working the polls shortly after Ohio got the 'voting' machines. I was an observer for the 2004 recount. Yes, we recounted precincts that were selected prior to the recount day. That made no sense to me. I thought that the areas to be recounted would be drawn on the day of the recount and we would start from there. That was it for me. I still vote, always on paper and I kiss it for luck in hopes that it will be counted!
3. Yep... I keep thinking abuot how I would feel in the reverse situation.
Imagine that our candidate "lost" by 100 votes and you later find out that a few of your best precincts show as having zero voters?
THAT would scream that there was a problem.
But this one is too straighforward for this piece of it to be fraud. If there is fraud going on (and I wouldn't put it past them), then this event was created intentionally to throw us off the scent.
4. As was stated elsewhere on DU: If this asshole wanted to throw the election to Prosser,
this is about the stupidest way she could have done it. Anyone with access to city vote totals and a calculator would discover it in 5 minutes once the error was announced.
