The house is voting on the continuing resolution on the budget now
Only 4 dems have voted for it, 151 against. Now I'm wondering what they put into the bill.

2. We will only provide as many votes as we absolutely have to.
Standard procedure, when it's a bill we don't like. This is a hold-your-nose-and-vote bill.

4. So we do want it to pass, but don't like it so we're making a statement? That type
of thing?

Then why are we helping to pass it? The games make my eyes cross.

7. The Tea Party doesn't want it to pass ... but the GOP leadership does.
So by withholding Dem yes votes, the GOP has to scrape up more votes from members who are pressured by their tea party backers.

10. We need it to pass -- otherwise the government will shut down

and that will be worse. (Each day of shut-down is hugely expensive.) But we don't have to give it any more votes than is absolutely necessary. The Rethugs are in charge of the House -- let them take the hit.

3. Who are the Dems (the 4) do you know?
I wonder, too, what the deal is.

I thought this wasn't coming up for a vote 'till tomorrow, or am I thinking of something different? (Can't keep track sometimes.)

6. It is an electronic vote
No way to tell until it is published.

5. I think the Dems are trying to force as many GOP members to vote yes
to anger the tea party.
