A personal story about Planned Parenthood
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 07:36 PM by proud2BlibKansan
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas - The U.S. Senate rejected the latest effort to defund Planned Parenthood's family planning services.

Lawmakers who oppose the funding said taxpayer dollars should not go to an organization that provides abortions.

Susan Loyacono, a Kansas City resident has a very different perspective.

She was laid off from her job and began working as a freelance writer.

During that time, Loyacono said she did not have health insurance.

“I became sick and became increasingly sick. What was happening was I was hemorrhaging,” she said.

Without health insurance Loyacono could not find a doctor who would help her.

That is when she called Planned Parenthood out of desperation.

“They were the only people who said we will help you, come in now.”

Tests revealed Loyacono was suffering from a severe iron deficiency and losing blood.

“If I had waited much longer, I could have died,” she said.

3. God forbid taxpayer dollars going towards saving womens' lives.
Repukes just plain hate women, why don't they admit it? Even the Republican women hate strong, independent women. Putting the life of a fetus head of that of a living, breathing, adult woman? How pathetic.

4. They might have saved an abortion with me, at least!
I got my first diaphragm from a PP clinic. I will never forget the experience. I was scared to death to go there, embarrassed I suppose. The women were welcoming, calming, understanding.

Most of all, after doing some scrutinizing and fittings or whatever, one sweet older woman working there asked me if I'd ever seen my cervix. Wow -- no, of course! She asked if I'd like to see what it looks like. Sure! She gave me a mirror and (I can't remember how now) she let me actually see what my cervix looks like!! I remember going, "Wowwww..." and her delight in my discovery.

It's the one and only time I ever saw it, but it was an experience that's stayed with me. I wonder what I'd imagine it looks like if I hadn't seen it? That woman gave me a gift.

The diaphragm, and everything involved in getting it, cost me nothing or next to nothing. I was a student barely getting by, with no income.

The so-called "Pro-Lifers" should applaud PP for preventing abortions.

(And the idiots out there still don't realize there is no such thing as "taxpayer-funded abortions." Ignorance is GOP currency.)
