9 Things The Rich Don't Want You To Know About Taxes
April 13th, 2011 DAVID CAY JOHNSTON | Cover Story

(By the way,

during seven of the eight George W. Bush years,

the IRS report on the top 400 taxpayers was labeled a state secret,

a policy that the Obama administration overturned almost instantly after his inauguration.)

8. It's a legal doctrine invoked to seal court records, not an agency classification like "secret."
"State secrets" is a doctrine increasingly invoked -- as in the Sibel Edmonds case -- to quash testimony by whistle-blowers.

26. I would guess that in this case
they were labeled "State Secrets" so no one could scrutinize his "base."
It is disgusting what has become of a once great nation. It is all about Greed....It is not realistic or sustainable, but I guess "we'll leave that for the history books to decide." If there are any legitimate one's written.

9. When your tax policy is so obscenely ridden with depravity that its effects must be
a cockamamie state secret, that's taking run-of-mill depravity to yet another level. :patriot:

15. Many of those rich 400 pigs pay NO taxes.
Trump got away without paying taxes for 2 out of 4 years and hedge fund managers pay NO taxes if they leave their money in the fund.

While grandmother on social security pays 22% or more in taxes Trump runs around calling for a birth certificate everyone has seen while paying no taxes.

25. The Bush cartel's reign of error
was the icing on the cake. They stole two national elections and no one flinched. They got the green light to loot the treasury and tell the working class our problems stemmed from workers having it too good. Now it's time for shared sacrifice wherein the working class sacrifices and the wealthy elites share the booty. We are doomed.

31. Forget the "Top 400 Taxpayers Labeled a State Secret"
Well, okay, don't forget that part...but the entire article is a must-read! This is THE most compelling piece I've ever read, that argues for raising taxes on the rich, and how much the average citizen has been getting screwed since 1980. It's all in there...solid facts, solid numbers, solid charts. Spells out in black-and-white what it all means to the average Joe. It's unassailable! Points a finger at who's responsible for the disparity in tax payments and income, with irrefutable support!
:bounce:

In the comments section, there are a few dissenters, but their arguments are laughably weak. A couple of opinions insisted Milton Friedman wasn't a supply-side economist, and therefore the entire article was invalid.

"We do not give any measure of value to time spent rearing children or growing our own vegetables or to time off for leisure and community service." Spot on. In America, the only useful endeavor is to punch a time-clock, then obediently drudge away to make somebody else rich.
:patriot:

"Yet last December the Republicans, poised to regain control of the House of Representatives, killed Obama’s Making Work Pay Credit while extending the Bush tax cuts for two more years—a policy Obama agreed to.

"By doing so, Congressional Republican leaders increased taxes on a third of Americans, virtually all of them the working poor, this year."

One chart that jumped out at me that I hadn't heard before, is the one in the middle of the page, "Average Incomes Fell During Bush Years." Minus $2.74 TRILLION? Am I reading that right?
:wow:

Also, right under that, in the section, "Republicans Like Taxes Too," is this: "...by the end of 2008, the government had collected more than $2 trillion in surplus tax." And to think, ten years ago, we were being led to believe Social Security was about to go belly-up. Everyone around us was caught up in the panic...most maxed out their payments to their 401(k)'s during that time.

"Germans work less, make more per hour and get much better parental leave than Americans, many of whom get no fringe benefits such as health care, pensions or even a retirement savings plan. By many measures the vast majority live better in Germany than in America." But...but...but that's SOCIALISM! (gasp)

"Here is a question to ask yourself: We started down this road with Reagan’s election in 1980 and upped the ante in this century with George W. Bush." You know, we really should paraphrase St. Ronnie's infamous quote from the 1980 debate..."Are you better off than you were thirty years ago?"

Kicked and recommended x1000!
:kick:
