Excerpts from from Wauwatosa Now (a local free press) by Stefanie Scott, ssctott@cninow.com:
The Common Coucil on Tuesday ratified contracts for three employee unions...snip...by a vote of 8-7
Within 12 hours Mayor Jill Didier vetoed the decision nullifying the contracts.
"As the leader of this organization, I must strike the balance of (the) wllbeing of our workers, our responsibilities and the expectations of the Wauwatosa community," she said...
snip...The majority of the people who spoke or registered their opinion at Tuesdays meeting were opposed to ratifying contracts...
snip...{Aldermann Jeff Roznowski] named the definite $12,675 per week savings the city would realize under the contracts as a motivation for supporting ratification. "Ratification is the fiscally responsible thing to do,' he said.
Snip... "I'm disappointed..."Alderman Dennis McBride said. "Regrettably she allowed partisan politics to control actions in Wauwatosa," he said ...snip

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Mayor and her t-bagging constituents are just SO fiscally responsible!!!!
Didier chose to follow her anti-union GOP constituents desire and go with guidelines in the Walker Budge Repair bill (which btw is now tied up in court).
The decision to not go with the negotiated contract with the city unions will COST the city $13000 more per week at the beginning of the period and $20,000 more at the end of the budget period.
They had a better deal with their own unions than the one that will come dictated from Madison. But they want the anti-union stuff sooooooo bad that they were willing to incur an unneeded million dollar a year cost.
