I'm not certain but statisticians say by 2030 there will be 75 million Americans 65+ years of age.
The chart below shows what the current and proposed 'Government cost' will be for 'each' Medicare recipient.
Will the US be able to afford 75 million Americans on the Medicare rolls( 75,000,000 x $12,489 = $936,675,000,000 ) if the Republican Budget plan is not enacted?
If the Republican Budget plan is enacted ( 75,000,000 x $9,747 = $731,025,000,000 ) is a savings of +/- $205,000,000,000 based on how many Americans are still on Medicare but at a cost increase of $11,575 to $20,713 per individual, basically doubling the cost for 'new seniors'.
I know my math is fuzzy here because there are no numbers that I could find that tell me how many folks will be reaching age 65 in 2022 or in 2030 and the mortality rate for those who will be turning 65 in 2011 etc etc.
The $936 Billion is paid to the Government through deductions from the recipients Social Security whilst it appears that the Republican plan will shift $731 Billion tax payer $'s to be paid directly to the 'Medical Insurance Corporations' something like a Medical Corporation Welfare system and also burden our seniors with double the costs for their medical coverage.
Can some one shed some more light on this situation that looks like just another Corporate Welfare shell game proposed by the Republicans???
Plus who will be able to afford the medical costs if they are working at McD's et.al for minimum wage and part time hours?
The Ryan proposal is based on some one getting 80% of their 'average' 5 yrs salary of $174K and all of their medical bills being paid by the tax payers.
Any one receiving a retirement pension of 80% of their yearly wage and not having to pay for their medical expenses please stand up.
