Did anyone else find Morning Joe in London to be a Big Bore today?
I had it on while I had coffee and read the paper but gave up on it after 8 am. I find Niall Ferguson to be an obnoxious blowhard (Harvard deserves him). And they had that soccer guy, who is pleasant enough but boring, and Willie talking about Kate and William wedding tchochkes (mildly interesting). I couldn't imagine what they could come up with for another 2 hours so I ditched them. Joe and Mika simply can't hold their own when discussing the European scene. They were a laughing stock.
6. Except that when he has good people on they are REALLY good.
Last week he had Howard Dean on for a good long segment. It was great. Howard was able to stop Joe in his tracks when he started spouting sh*t. Katrina VandenHeuvel does that too. Even Tina Brown tweaks him.
As for the RW arseholes, when they're one I just mute the goddam thing till they're gone...
4. I check to see who is going to be a guest and in which time slot if possible.
He often has good guests on his regular show. That's what carries that show. It was glaringly obvious once he was on his own in London, not knowing his ass from his elbow and talking trash about the Brits. Mika had nothin' either. It seems like they just got on a plane and went over there without much thought about what in hell they'd talk about for a week.
8. There have been some highlights. Gotta live for them!
Peggy Noonan, either drunk on her ass or with a terrible hangover, telling Andrew Ross Sorkin of the NYT that he had a "little brain." Or Eugene Robinson getting Mika near tears over her wishy-washiness on the Skip Gates affair and many other imbroglios I can't recall offhand.
11. I totally agree! It's a mystery to me why they're there.
Mika was downright dismissive of the wedding, so she's either ticked off that she's there for that or they have other things planned. It might just be downhill all the way for the rest of the week...
13. I stopped watching when I saw the ads for Morning Dead Intern
and in the ads he said, (paraphrasing) "This class warfare approach, it never works!" Well, of course it's only class warfare when the rich are being called out.
15. well, it was the first time I'd ever seen "tchochkes" spelled....
So, maybe that was worth the ZZZs. I'm surprised, though, that Mika is not more worldly--though she seems to be trying hard to promote her being "above all the fluff".... :eyes: As if....
