Storms kill 37 across South; pummel Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – An emergency official says violent storms have killed 25 in Alabama, bringing the regional death toll to 37.

Emergency Management Agency spokesman Yasamie August says the people died in severe storms that raked the state on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the storms killed eight in Mississsippi, two in Georgia and one each in Arkansas and Tennessee.

Swaths of Tuscaloosa, Ala. have been reduced to rubble by a massive tornado.
