What Did America Expect?

Many people have gasped at The Republican tax cuts. However, Republicans have been trying to reduce further taxes on the rich for years. In fact, some wanted the highest tax rate on individuals to be lowered to 25 percent. No surprise here.

they always throw in ugly favors and extra goodies for the rich and corporations, but for the most part, republicans usually peddle tax cuts that reduce rates proportionately so they can pretend it's fair.

e.g., if the top rate goes from 40% to 30%, then the 12% rate goes to 9%. they'd throw in loopholes to favor the rich even more, but the headlines would be about how everyone gets a proportionate rate cut.

this time they've given up all pretense of fairness.

i'm not sure america is surprised, at least we really shouldn't be.
