Mueller Probe Expected to Last Through 2018, Despite What Trump's Lawyers Say

Speculation is mounting that President Trump is about to make another dramatic move regarding the probe of his campaign’s contacts with Russia. Last week Representative Jackie Speier even mentioned a specific date, saying she’d heard that “on December 22, when we are out of D.C., he was going to fire Robert Mueller.” On Sunday President Trump denied that he’s thinking of firing the special counsel, and some predict he may hold off until after the holidays, and perhaps even surprise everyone by firing Mueller’s boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

But there’s still reason to think that we’ll be describing next weekend’s events to our grandkids someday, and not because of any eggnog-related antics. The Washington Post reports: “White House lawyers are expected to meet with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s office late this week seeking good news: that his sprawling investigation’s focus on President Trump will soon end and their client will be cleared.”

They are very unlikely to find it, as it seems the idea that Trump is on the verge of being exonerated is just something his lawyers came up with to keep him happy. Trump attorney Ty Cobb previously said he expects Mueller’s team to wrap up their work by Thanksgiving, then changed the deadline to December. Now, according to Trump’s lawyers, we’re looking at “January or so.” But people familiar with the probe tell the Post that they expect the investigation to continue for at least another year. Mueller’s team is still requesting more campaign-related documents, and has secured the cooperation of former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and apparently former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Meanwhile the slow trickle of tidbits on the Trump team’s relationship with Russia continues. On Monday NBC News reported that, as one might expect, the FBI warned both the Trump and Clinton campaigns that foreign adversaries, such as Russia, might be looking to infiltrate their operation.

This administration and goper majority loot our treasury, gut our institutions and weaken our nation to the point that Russia can have their way with us. It won't matter to the uber rich because they will be above the chaos. I fear we are in for hard times.

When they said that Mueller's team has cleared their calendars to work throughout 2018 I said, "I am not going to be able to take this shit for another year. The fucking moron need to be out ASAP!
