And its still a shitty piece of politicking driven by pressure from hardline Israeli lobbyists. There can be a fairly reasonable case made for WEST Jerusalem to be considered Israel's capital, but claiming the whole city goes completely against international law. Moving an embassy there before any peace settlement is just a declaration that the US is not a fair and unbiased actor (not that that should really surprise anyone) and provokes new violence while setting back any potential deal.

It's stupid, counterproductive and purely political.
