And even if he is, who cares. He just got a massive windfall and can retire in luxury without consequence.

Just as soon as he's made sure that no one else can get the Social Security benefits that he got, growing up.

And if Paul Ryan leaves Repubs will replace him with another con man, makes no real difference.

where random internet people on the site would post a rumor and people would discuss it from there.

Just because it originates on Twitter doesn't mean anything.

Actual discussion has dropped off significantly over the years and the majority of replies end up being snark, pictures, or memes. That's contributed to my posting far less than I used to on DU2 because you'd write things with some nuance or actual points to talk about and would just get snark or a meme. I stick around to keep up on breaking news and to get an idea of the pulse on things but actual engagement is simply tiring.

A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
