It's basically calling oneself a Christian.

I believe what I choose to believe. I don't seek agreement, I'm not going to be talked out of what I have chosen to believe, I am not a member of a "club" or a "cult," I don't attend annual meetings or company picnics.

I've associated with people who walk the talk, and I've associated with people who are full of it up to their eyeballs.

When people say "Christians are (fill in the blanks)..." I refuse to be categorized.

It's the easiest membership criteria in the world. Tell people you are, and you are. I don't have "Christian" on my business card. People who know me know who and what I am, and that's all that matters to me.

Do you mean religious beliefs should stay private ?

If so, I totally agree with you. Somehow, it is partly what I want to point with the meme.

I have also understand that religious beliefs are disrespected and mocked. They are often and shamelessly flagged up for opportunistic reasons.

All beliefs are respectable, faith is a private matter. I have met various people from various origin with various beliefs. Some were nice, some were not so much...

Once again, I'm sorry to be almost simplistic. I would have done much more better in French

I am of the belief that what we know and what we believe has little value until we do something with it.

It's like saying "I have a Mercedes Benz. It is parked in the garage. I never drive it and I never go in the garage."

OK then...why tell people you own one, and why does it matter that you do?

My beliefs are private, and I live and act in accordance with what I believe.

Please see the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote I posed above...that sums up my whole philosophy on this subject.

Some sects are so far removed from what was the original church, it's not reasonable to lump them together

I always try to be honest because It's the ethical thong to do. This person can call themselves a Christian all day, but that will not make it true. And asking forgiveness will not absolve her in the eyes of her creator.

so she has been taught.

I'm always amazed when I read about all these "evangelicals" waiting, somewhat impatiently, for the "Rapture". Seems to me they're too damn sure of themselves (or too proud -- one of the 7 deadly sins) in their belief that they will be the ones raptured up.

If they read anything other than their precious Book of Revelation, they might just learn that several biblical scholars don't look at it as being about the future, but rather the past -- and mostly even a series of myths passed down through generations.

Personally, I think it was written by a group of teenagers high on the weed of the day.....

I could never stand old man Huckabee, and I had no idea he had an evil spawn. I don't know how she gets up in the morning. Her job is to lie and spin for a man that is the worst President ever. She seems to have disdain for the press too, with that constant look on her face like she has a stick up her ass.

For a Christian, lying is okay if Christianity benefits from it.

-> Lying to non-believers is basically okay. And now we redefine "Christianity" as Republicans and "heathens" as Democrats and you have your justification.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of them believe their lies will be forgiven. I think they are under the impression they are lying in service to their God in order to save the world. Since they believe they are serving a higher moral purpose it's all okay.

That's the only "logic" I can come up with to explain how they sleep at night.
