(10,053 posts)I heard a radio interview yesterday (Im in TexasJ about Democrats prospects in the 2018 election for both statewide and federal campaigns. I didnt catch the name, but the person being interviewed said that we have to get people to vote but what is even more important is dealing with Republicans efforts to prevent people from voting. With gerrymandering and adding ID requirements and trying to kick people off voting lists, Republicans have an advantage that will be hard to overcome without huge turnout for Democrats. When Republicans cheat, its hard to have faith that fair elections will happen to help us take back the government from this disastrous group.

(32,726 posts)Everything they do is cheating, because they can't win on straight out numbers. They're always looking for ways to game the system in their favor, and we should never let our guard down.
I live in Pennsylvania, the most gerrymandered state there is, because the GOP got a head start here years ago. It's so exasperating, but there's a court case being heard in Philadelphia this week, hoping to get a ruling on the 2011 district map as ineligible. If we get a favorable ruling, the districts will be redrawn in time for the 2018 elections.
Other states can do the same. Don't lose hope, always gaurd against the Republican cheating because that's all they know how to do.

(5,275 posts)You would hope enough Americans finally figure this out. The Right rewards their donors and themselves, thereby running up the debt. They are then deficit hawks when a democrat takes office.
So hypocritical. Always.
You would think the democrats will now do quite well in 2018 and 2020....if the Right is not overly successful at voter suppression and outright cheating.
The old line about never underestimating the stupidity of the American people really rings as true as ever. Not all of us but too many of us.
