Wyatt Koch the son of billionaire Bill Koch is suing his ex-fiancée to get back an 8.24-carat ring after she broke off their engagement, according to court documents. Wyatts lawyers claim that he purchased the pricey Oscar Heyman cushion cut diamond with two tapered baguette diamonds for $180,000 in March for a Tallahassee lassie named Ivie Gabrielle Slocumb.
But come May after she allegedly broke off the engagement Slocumb kept the rock. Wyatts lawyers say the rings now worth $250,000, and Wyatt also wants $15,000 in damages.
According to court documents filed in Florida circuit court, Wyatt known in Palm Beach as the flame-haired, flamboyantly attired CEO of his own Palm Beach fashion line, Wyatt Ingraham has demanded the return of the ring .?.?. on multiple occasions and says that the would-be bride received the ring as a conditional gift. She refuses to return it despite proper demand and the condition not being fulfilled.
A receipt filed with the court reflects that he also splashed out on a $7,750 platinum diamond pendant with 56 round diamonds, thats not part of the suit.

(65,159 posts)That's a lot of money for her to keep the rock. However, the $15k in damages is ridiculous!
On a second note, Wyatt, learn how to tie a tie.

(6,400 posts)Regardless of the lineage, keeping a ring after breaking off an engagement says far more about her than it does him. It's just poor taste at the least.

(6,400 posts)I'd say that about anyone that had a story like that posted about them. The common thing is that when you break off an engagement, you return the ring. It's that simple.

(8,311 posts)And even though he hadn't cheated yet. Many said since he was changing the "contract", not me, I was entitled to keep it. But I didn't want the reminder around and figured he could use the money.
And just felt it made the break more final.

(6,400 posts)I didn't want to keep that reminder and I certainly didn't want to profit from it by selling it afterward. There was a better sense of finality by returning it and making a break from that relationship in a physical way.

(698 posts)"Flame-haired!" "Flamboyantly attired!" I had to go back and re-read that to be sure that it really was a man who was being defined by appearance and clothing.

(94,716 posts)Sorry dummy; if you didn't get her to sign a pre-nup that covers this, the gift came with no strings.

(52,166 posts)In some, if she breaks the engagement the ring is returned, if he breaks it, it isn't. In others, she keeps regardless. I am not sure if there are any where it is returned regardless.

(5,803 posts)Its a conditional gift there. Donee calls it off or is unfaithful, donor gets the ring back.
Unless he broke it off or was unfaithful. Somehow I cant see that being the case.

(5,233 posts)Can't blame her for breaking it off. Notice the body language in this picture. She doesn't look very enamored, does she?

(10,205 posts)Breach of contract or something like that. The engagement ring was a symbol of that promise and was sometimes kept by the bride-to-be as compensation. I promise to marry you, let's have sex..a woman losing her virginity back then was seriously a loss.
Now men are suing for a broken engagement? He wants compensation for what? His virginity? She should get a reward for that.
