If I made a deal like this tax plan, I'd lose my job
First off, my job is negotiating union contracts in behalf of the employees.
This tax plan gives about a $1,000 tax break, on average, to a worker making $75,000 a year, as best as I can surmise. The corporation that employs that worker gets millions in tax breaks. In addition, the middle class will get cuts in social services in order to give those millions to the companies, which, in essence, is like a cut in benefits to the employee.
$1,000 is approximately fifty cents ($0.50) an hour raise over seven (7) years. Not fifty cents an hour every year, just a one time fifty cents an hour. On top of that, the company, and the wealthy, get millions of dollars in which our children, collectively, have to repay.
If I negotiated a union contract (CBA) in which I got a 7 year deal with a one time, fifty cent an hour raise for $75K per year employees, which amounts to less than 1%-0-0-0-0-0-0 over 7 years, with a cut in benefits, and you have to give the fifty cents an hour back after 7 years, while the company was making huge profits, there would be one less job in America. MINE.
