JOY REID: "The two parties are NOT the same."

@JoyAnnReid

They’re not done. And they won’t stop until they take it all: your healthcare, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, in the service of themselves and their super rich donors. Elections matter, folks. The two parties are NOT the same.

Things that Democrats would not be doing if they had the power:

Escalating towards nuclear war with NK.
Pulling out of Paris Climate Agreement.
Reducing National Monuments.
Defunding renewable energy.
Defunding CHIP.
Not helping Puerto Rico sufficiently.
Threatening and deporting DACA.
Building a wall on the southern border.
Attacking our allies and praising Russia.
Ignoring the Russia's cyber attack on our democracy.
Trying to revive the war on cannabis.
Backing expansion of private prisons.
Sabotaging the ACA.
Pushing an obscene tax bill which trigger cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
Preparing to decimate the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.
A State Department in shambles.
Privatization schemes against public education.
Expanding the private prison system.
Attacking the BLM movement.
Praising White Supremacists.
Renewing attacks on our LGBT brothers and sisters.
Destroying Net Neutrality.
Decimating clean water and clean air standards.
Banning certain words from useage at the Center for Disease Control.

To name a few.

sorry that was an impression of the reaction by deplorables.

It is truly a social phenomenon that a segment, a large segment, of the population can cheer on not just one, not just two but as your list reveals, one after the other of acts of incompetence, lying, stealing, and hurting their own families....as long as they can laugh at the pain it causes those that are on the other side of the political spectrum. It seems like for some, that is all that matters. Its like the louder we wail, the louder they laugh. They have been so reduced to a lack of critical thinking that they do not even need to know the details, all they have to know is that if a liberal is crying, it means they are on the right path.

I'd said in another thread that all we needed to do to kill the tax reform bill was have Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama publicly say something good about it. Especially if President Obama said he was considering passing a bill just like it. Even if Congress did pass it, the Rumpus would veto is just because Obama endorsed it.

and frankly offensive. Give people some credit Joy.

You can say this in 2018 and 2020 if we don't regain some control, in the meantime this simplistic argument after-the-fact serves only to blame and no other useful purpose. Stop living in the past Joy. And how about taking some responsibility -- there's a novel concept.

The Republicans learned this long ago and are winning on it. Don't underestimate the attention of those who struggle to get by today. They swallowed Trump, hook, line and sinker. We aren't educating the populous as we used to.

Do you believe that DU is a static community that never grows and never changes? Do you believe that there are NO new faces and NO new members and NO new readers who could benefit from hearing the truth (or who may be reassured that they've "found a good home here" when they hear such obvious truths)?

The authoritarian posturing I'm seeing here is something that I'd expect from an administrator, or from a parent who's "laying-down-the-law" about what's considered acceptable, appropriate and allowable behavior. (You know... the typical "not as long as you're living under my roof" threatening and harassing parental attitude.)

Anyone who thinks so obviously believes anyone who didn't vote for HRC must be a total idiot. And basically tells them as much by taking every opportunity that presents itself to say this over and over and over and over again -- like a broken record. That'll convince 'em.

The truth is, the parties have been similar enough in some fashions on the economic front for going on 40 years ... and some people have had enough of that and exercised the only real power they have. The only thing they CAN control. Instead of demeaning them, how about reflecting on how we can win/earn their votes.

Yelling "see, I told ya so" while ignoring their grievances will get us zero. That's what Joy just did with her grandstanding.

... or their motives, than they probably intended. Personally, I find it bizarre that anyone would go to such great effort to suppress and silence anyone from speaking and emphasizing this basic truth. Therefore it's quite reasonable for people to question their underlying motives and intents.

so that even the idiots will hear it. Not that the worst of them on the far right and the far left will ever believe it, but some people have the ability to think, when the danger is to them personally. Even if it's too much to expect for them to think of the country and its people.
