Lawrence ODonnell Delivers A Blast Of Sunshine With A Reminder That Democrats Will Repeal Trumps T

By Jason Easley at Politicus USA

http://www.politicususa.com/2017/12/19/lawrence-odonnell-delivers-blast-sunshine-reminder-democrats-repeal-trumps-tax-cuts.html

"SNIP..........

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell told Democrats what they needed to hear as Republicans are passing tax cuts for the rich. The tax cuts for the wealthy are only temporary because they will be repealed by a future Democratic president and Congress.

Video:

O’Donnell said, “Well, the biggest danger, and there are many dangers. But every day the biggest danger of the Trump presidency is that we are always just a Trump whim away from nuclear war with North Korea. A nuclear exchange cannot be undone. What is happening tonight in the United States Senate can be undone, and it will be undone by the next Democratic president and Democratic Congress. And so it is not the worst thing that is happening in the trump world. The Democrats will repair the damage to tax law that is being done tonight. And it is damage, unlike anything we have ever seen before.”

With each unpopular move that they make, Republicans take another step toward handing Democrats total control of the federal government. From the moment that Trump signs these tax cuts for the wealthy into law, they will be living on borrowed time, because the first thing that the next Democratic president will do, likely in January 2021, is get rid of the Trump tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

Republican control of Congress is looking more doomed by the day, so when Democrats return to total control of the federal government, they will fix the damage that will have been done by this malicious act of economic violence against the American people by erasing what will likely be the centerpiece of a very meager Trump legacy.

It's an "easy" repeal when the conditions a are right. In fact, if you look back on the Bush 2002 tax cuts, we tried to argue that Clinton's tax hike helped the economy, but they passed them anyway. We then tried to restore the rates back to the Clinton rates in the years since, but haven't been able to because take hikes for the middle class are hard for us to pass.

Well, this seems to take care of the hard part, and now we can create smark tax legislation pretty easily because the GOP did the hard part and Dems can supplement that with hikes to the wealthy and corporate rates or closing loopholes or whatever.

I don't see reversing this bill as an easy lift.

Maybe I am pessimistic, but with the corporate media screeching "tax raisers" and corporations threatening to bolt to other countries it won't be easy. Especially when those same corporations donate to Democratic politicians also.

Somehow, it seems Dems need 60 votes to do anything, Repubs only need 51.

I'm sure there's some wonky parliamentary rule diddling going on, far above my comprehension.
